- Theresa-Minutes approved, Welcome 2 new members. Adopted minutes from last meeting
- Caryn-updated that the county will take over our vaccinations effort, they will come do a site check of the firehouse, set up vaccination dates and then spread the word
- Greg-Treasurer update-We have about $2.400
- Home Grown Fair– Table-Saturday May22nd-Givaways and 50/50….. to get word out about the Golden Gulls and to help us locate the Seniors. Table schedule all set. Donations from Christine R-manicure, pedicure, beach towels etc. We will have a Senior Sign in Sheet as well as surveys to give out to the Seniors that stop by. THE GOAL OF THE FAIR IS TO SHOWCASE LOCAL BUSINESSES; OUR GOAL IS TO CREATE AWARENESS OF OUR GROUP AND TO FIND OUR SENIORS IN TOWN.
- Our Mayor is trying to get us an updated list of Seniors that live in town, apparently the last list we had is outdated. We handed out 450 surveys yet we only recieved 55 Surveys back and most asked for Bus trips, lunches and Game nights. Feedback from the surveys-5 seniors did not need help all but offered to give rides to other Seniors.
- Welcome Officer Hayes-will get the request for ICE cards for Seniors to the Police Administration. ICE stands for IN CASE OF EMERGENCY. Great to have on Seniors Refrigerators.
- Could we, or do we have a town registry for Dementia/Alzheimer’s patients. Elderly family members often ask whom in town they can notify.
- Officer Hayes agreed that missing or hidden house numbers create a problem in emergencies.
- We would like to invite the Police to get involved in the June 24th 7-10pm, Starry Starry night event at the Band Shell and maybe hand out some literature. We expect food trucks and Gondola rides on the lake. There will also be artists and some Seniors reading history and sharing crocheting.
- July 8th– First Senior Rec Day At the Firehouse, Goal is for Seniors to meet. Games, light refreshments, sip and paint and chair yoga. This will develop and evolve with time but possibly have 1x a week in the future
- July 15th-Possible Senior Luncheon with Sinatra Singer-Gerard Esposito to volunteer. 12-3pm. Other ideas? Any suggestions for food donations?
- Beverly, Patti A and Karen T are communicating on the Solicitation letters.
- We will reach out to the local churches such as St. Peters and the very active rosary society, Sacred Heart etc. to get names of Seniors in the area.
- First Fridays-occur in town and have a set theme such as car nights. Run by the Chamber of Commercec. They asked the senior, Rec and Arts committees to collaborate and share calendars. It is called the ‘’Joining Forces Committee.’’ They would like the Golden Gulls to take the Aug 6th Friday and create a theme etc. Some thoughts? Maybe a focus on history of the town, Veteran’s and storefronts? It may be way too hot for Seniors in August. We need to discuss again. We discusesd theme of ‘’Then and Now’’ and to pair a local senior inside a store to have picture poster of what store used to be then and what it is now. Seniors who lived here could tell history. Big band or music of the era playing downtown.
- General Discussion. Need to set up subcommittees/leads at next month’s meeting scheduled for 6/17/21.
