GOLDEN GULLS COMMITTEE MEETING

The meeting was called to order at 7:05PM

Motion to accept the June Committee Minutes.
June questioned whether the treasurer’s report should report the exact amount of money in our account. In the past the committee was told that we should report “around a dollar amount”. Maryjane said that she and Joan Clune would discuss this with Chris Riehl.
Doug texted Chris and she reported that yes, we should report the exact amount of funds we have in our account.
Joan Clune asked why we reported the PNC Concert Trip as a Golden Gulls event since we never voted on it.
Caryn stated that it was an event geared to our seniors.
Motion made by Joan to accept the minutes as amended.
Second by Mary Ann.
All were in favor.
TREASURER’S REPORT-JOAN CLUNE:
There were three classes in June, Zumba and Yoga.
We collected $240.
Instructors were paid $250.
Ice Cream Social- The ice cream was donated by Hoffman’s.
It was a free event for the seniors.
Our costs were $258.20.
Our account balance is $10,186.00
COUNCIL LIASON REPORTS:
Councilwoman Byrnes stated that she was sorry to have missed the Ice Cream Social. She had a Garden Tour to attend.
The PNC bus trip was a nice event.She was disappointed that more seniors could not attend the rescheduled date.
Councilman Vitale announced that Anthony DiDio will be performing at the Recreation Committee Concert Series on Tuesday, July 25th. Mugsy’s will be providing a food truck.
Doug asked if the Zumba/Yoga flyer has been approved yet. We should be advertising it more. He will check with Chris Riehl and let us know.
ICE CREAM SOCIAL:
Joan reported that the event went very well. Thanks to all the committee members who helped and to Larry Dino Schwartz for providing the entertainment.
Cornelia said that about 1/3 of the attendees did not want to take the blue GG cups home.
NON-RESIDENT TAXPAYER MEETING ON AUGUST19TH:
Greg will once again represent the Golden Gulls at this meeting.
REVIEW CALENDAR OF EVENTS:
We would like to schedule Bingo at the Elks in August.
Joan suggested that we look into taking seniors to Bingo at St. Dominick’s which is held on Fridays from 12:30 to 2:30. She has reached out to a bus company for prices. This could be an option if we cannot get a lead for the event at the Elks.
Greg offered to co-chair, Mary Ann will co-chair with him.
June, Theresa, John, Cornelia, Peter, Michelle, and Lucille volunteered to help.
Maryjane confirmed with Loretta and the Elks that August 16th is available.
RSVPs will go to Mary Ann. Greg will submit the Bingo license application.
Maryjane has a flyer that her grandson created.
Cost will be $8 for one set of cards, 12 games.
Theresa will reach out to Loretta about prizes.
We will have soft drinks and snacks for purchase.
Motion by Theresa to approve the event.
Second by Greg.

Marion suggested a Bunco event. The Woman’s Club is having one in the Fall. Several members will try to attend and determine if it is an event that could work for us.
September- We will have ASK THE EXPERTS with Loretta and Jessica coordination.Proposed date is September 25th.
October- June Cuzzo will lead our Italian Celebration/Lunch on October 10th. Caryn will check with the Firehouse to see if we need to be out by 4:00pm.
November- Luann will lead a downtown shopping day for the seniors on November 16th from 11-2. Luann will create a flyer for approval and Doug will ask Carol Vaccaro to distribute it.
Doug will also look into IT classes for our seniors at the High School and offered to conduct a Scam prevention presentation.
December- Maryjane and Joan will lead the Mingle and Jingle event on December 12th.
NEW BUSINESS:
Tracey and Robyn will coordinate selling the canvas bags and Christmas ornaments at the Seafood Fest. Tracey has the bags, John reported that ornaments are on the way.
Motion by Joan
Second by Cornelia to lower the selling cost of the ornaments from $15 to $10. All were in favor.
The bags will be sold for $15.
Joan will get $200 in start up cash for Tracey and Robyn and will coordinate picking up cash during the day.
Caryn suggested that we start selling the bags at Bingo in August.
Cornelia announced that the Friends Of The Library will be hosting a concert at the bandshell on July 24th, Kevin Kelly and Friends.
Maryjane has schedules of the Brick Senior Center exercise classes which are open to our residents at no cost.
Motion by Joan to adjourn at 8:25pm.
