treasurer position is also open. Ryan explained that administrative support is needed and for all
interested members to contact Ryan, Kieran or Doug.
Council Liaison: Doug stated he was meeting with DPW tomorrow to talk about the fire pit, which will
be dug on Friday morning with input from Fire Inspector Brian Martin. A robocall will go out to inform
residents of the bonfires and the postcards look great. On the Maryland Avenue beach issue, the
committee doesn’t want to take on running the beach. Lease i t ending this year and a RFP with other
vendors will go out. Provisions can be put in to give Recreation the right of first refusal,
student/resident discounts, etc. The question of will other vendors offer the same courtesy as
AquaServ was raised. Doug also mentioned that Kait Greenberg will talk about Kiwanis. On holidays,
Doug stated he has a contact who will be donating a large tree for downtown and proposed the idea
of an ornament decorating contest. It was also reported that Eileen Farrell stated we cannot vote by
email as a town committee. Instead, the committee can host a quick meeting with a quorum of
members to hold a vote going forward.
Basketball: nothing to report
Bonfire: Ryan asked for a vote on spending $300 for the band at the bonfire. A motion to authorize
this spending was made by Kieran Schultz and seconded John Babbini. Unanimous committee

cards. Kelly also mentioned that things were good to go with the wood/pallet donation, 60 pizzas total
(20 pies from 3 vendors), 10 cases water, cookies & smores donations (enough to make 80 smores
for kids). Kelly stated that the biggest are i n need i s volunteers to set up, break down, and help during
the event, especially at the food tables (6p-8p). Kelly explained that the plan i s for smores will be set
up i n personal baggies, so help is needed with policing trash that night & carrying l umber up the
ramp. Paul mentioned that it would be best to drop off the l umber as close to the ramp as possible.
Family fishing derby: Ryan reported that 25 kids are registered so far and that tee shirts designs are
finalized ($5 donation to offset price of shirts). Ryan called for a vote on event date & registration fee.
A motion to accept the event as open to ages 4-14 on October 3, 2020 from 8-11am with a $5 fee
was made by Kelly & seconded by Kate DiCorcia. Unanimous committee approval. Ryan stated that
volunteers are needed on the day of the event, and that he i s working on donations, trophies & prizes.
Lastly, Ryan explained that the full inlet area i s reserved for this event.
Social media: Kelly reported that the skatepark & fishing events have been shared and that she will
post thank you notes after the bonfire. Kelly mentioned that our number of likes is increasing with
additional posts! In response to questions about issues with random people from other countries
liking counselor videos, Doug & Kelly will look into and block profiles whose presence appears to be
out of place.
Summer camp/summertime surf: no updates
Wrestling: Ryan reported that Robby Neill found out that recreation wrestling i s NOT open i n Point
Boro, and he is waiting for reopening guidance from the state.
Holiday lights: no updates
Yoga on the Beach: Carolan reported that there was a great program this summer and hopes to
explore ways to increase participant numbers for next year.
New business/Open discussion:
Kiwanis: Kait Greenberg reported the club has been officially chartered with enough numbers to
begin. Service projects include face shields for teachers & a school supply drive. The next plan i s for
a Halloween event, possibly a joint event with the Rec on Halloween morning – bring your own
pumpkin. Sonya from Vintage Van Gogh’s can provide paint supplies. Kiwanis is open to suggestions
from Rec committee members on this event. Ryan suggested bringing in the Arts Committee too, and
Paul will connect Kait w/ Jim Inzero re: teaching how to paint. Ryan reminded there i s a need to fill
out special events form for the use of the park. Ryan called for a vote to approve the pumpkin
painting event i n Pleasure Park on 10/31/2020 from 9am-11am. A motion to approve was made by
Carolan and seconded by Michele Mosca. Unanimous committee approval.
Skate Park: Ryan reported that lots of permits have gone out and thanked the 1st day volunteers.
Biggest issues are kids not wearing helmets & using razor scooters. Thanks to the PPB Police for
helping get things going and to the Open Space Committee for donating benches. Former
Councilman Toohey proposed a “Grom-o-ween” event where kids skate i n costumes. There will be
prizes & sponsors. A motion to approve this event on 10/31/2020 from 1pm-3pm was made by Katie
