Old Business:
Recreation Basketball
*First registration night (10/23) went well with about 20 signing up. Two more registrations nights (10/29-30) are planned. This program is open to grades K-8, the program runs from Dec-Jan/Feb.
*John Babbini and Doug Vitale will the recreations representatives.
*Doug Vitale will check to make sure that other schools (ST. Peters, Bay Head Elementary, Lavalette will also know about the registration times.
*Doug Vitale is helping Joe Fitzsminnons with sponsorship for the team tee shirts.
*Joe Fitzsimmons will be the Director of the program. Applications for officials have been received for John Churpackovitch and Vic Suskevitch. Scorekeepers Jack Fitzsimmons and Joe Fitzsimmons Jr.
*Last years director salary was $1,500.00, officials was $30.00 per game, and scorekeepers was also $30.00 per game. It needs to be voted for this years salaries.
*Doug Vitale check locally for scorekeepers fees and it was noted that fees are less in the area than we are paying. Doug made a motion to reduce scorekeepers fees to $15.00 per game. John Bobbini second. The motion passed unanimously to adopt a fee to $15.00 per game.
Intracoastal Tug
This event went well for its second year. It was held on Saturday, Oct 12. Point Beach won this years Tug. Before and after parties that were held at the Salty Whale and Dukes were well attendant.
Some points for possible improvement are:
*Team captains need to have better oversight of teams
*more food vendors (maybe 6 instead of 4)
*beer truck could have used more personal for distribution
*better paperwork for on-line registration. Difficult for shirts and team bracelets give out.
*a better lay out/flow. Placement of Beer truck in the middle made a bottleneck for tuggers and people to pass through..
*possible food truck vendors to give back ½% of profits
*There has not been an overall meeting for all committees as of this meeting.
NEW Business
Holiday light Competition
This will be our third year for this event. Free registration to be done at the town hall between Dec 1-15. Kieran Schultz wondered if it was possible to have online registration as well. She is checking on how to set that up. Carol Vaccaro of the Chamber usually gets 3 prizes for winners.
New Member Outreach
*Facebook page
*put a notice in the Antrim Wednesday packet on the first of each month.
* put a notice in Cooks Tour “goodie bags”
*mentioning the need for new members at Basketball sign ups
Ideas for future REC events
*Open gym night for adults
*winter break camp for kids
Where to hold, times
*parents night out
*town halloween parade
*trunk n treat (it was felt mostly by Debra BV that town does an excellent job in Library Section Trick or Treating with police presence and safety concerns that another event wasn’t necessary.)
*sell luminarias for the holidays to be displayed in town on Christmas Eve.
