Meeting called to order at 6:35
The October minutes were accepted by Doug Vitale, second by Carolan Ammirata. All accepted the minutes.
Old Business:
Recreation Basketball
Motion made by Debra BV to accept the director salary of $1,500.00 for the 2019-2020 session. The ref pay will be $35.00 per game, and score keepers will be paid $15.00 per game. John Babbini seconds the motion and the four members of the committee vote yes to pass.
Doug and Carolan feel that we need to open bids for Rec Basketball positions like we do for Rec Summer Camp.
Joe Fitzsimmons stopped by the meeting to give us an update on this session REC basketball. We have 136 participates this year. We have taken in $8,540.00 with registration fees. Doug Vitale continues to work on sponsorship for our teams. Doug also brought up that when he talks to business owners about sponsorship a couple have mentioned why don’t they get a team picture. Doug volunteered to take a photo once teams are picked and have their shirts. We will have pictures printed to give the business owners so they can display in their store.
Holiday Light Competition
Carolan Ammirata will get usage permit from town and three prize donations from businesses in town. We hope to have prizes in amounts of $100. (first), $50.00 (second), $25.00 (third). Free registration will be at Town Hall from Dec 1-12. Judging will be on Sun 15/Mon 16. Winners will be notified via phone and announced on our Facebook page.
Summer Camp
Carolan Ammirata would like to put an add in the paper for camp director soon to get the ball rolling. She is also going to check to see if it is possible to have our insurance changed so that we may hire 15 year old HS students as counselors for camp.
New Business
Committee positions to be filled for 2020 year will be decided at our next meeting. Our current treasure resigned this past year and we have never filled this position. We will also decide who will be our new Chairperson as Carolan Ammirata would like to step away from that role but still be involved with the committee. Also new recording secretary.
Douglas Vitale would like to find someone to set up webpage for the REC. Possible new member Kayleigh Borowski will check to see if it is something that Beach HS Graphic Design can help with that. This could help with forms and sign ups for various activities/events we do.
Kieran Schultz had some logo designs we might use as well as a page design for fliers we could use to let residents know of upcoming events.
Members in attendance did some brainstorming about possible events for the REC to do in town.
Some suggestions:
*Summer clinics, seperate from summer camp. Ex, lacrosse, tennis, yoga, pickleball, bocce ball…
*Valentine Scavenger Hunt
*Art Classes
*Cooking classes
*ballroom dancing
Both Lenore Fastuca and Kayleigh Borowski would like to fill out the paperwork needed to become part of the REC committee.
John Babbini made a motion to end the Meeting ended at 8:20.
Doug Vitale seconded the motion.
Our next meeting will be held on December 16, 2019 at 6:30
