Executive Reports

Chairperson Lauren Schule

  • March First Friday March 4th– Go Green Recap:  Lauren Schule
  • We painted rocks and shells at Top That and Little Book Store.  Large turnout.  Shells were used to make a shamrock in town under the tree by Bam Bam.  Rocks were hidden around town for the Sham-Rock event.
  • Sham-Rock
  • Over 300 participants plus walk-ups.
  • Feedback was great.  Everyone loved the leprechauns
  • Thank you to Lauren and Bill for all of their work
  • We collected $240 in donations and $100 T-Shirts.

 

  • Hiring posts for the Summer Camp in the Park went up this week.

 

  • Approval for Special Events need to be specific (dates, times, rain dates etc).

 

 

Recreation Department Liaison Councilman Doug Vitale

  • There is an updated approval process for new events which should make it more time efficient.
  • The Art Committee wants to erect a Moongate Sculpture in Pleasure Park.

 

 

Sub Committee Reports

 

PickleBall Tony Novo

  • 28 people registered.
  • It was decided that there would be no gift when registering.

 

Easter Egg Hunt   Katie DiCorcia

  • Location Pleasure Park on 4/16.  There is no rain date.
  • 180 registered. Pizza and Hoffman’s Ice Cream was donated. Top That Donut also wants to participate.
  • Craft table

 

Skate Park  Kelly McGee

  • Added additional beginner’s class.
  • Skatepark will be closed to the public during classes

 

Summer Camp          Lauren Schule

  • Summer Theme “Point me to the Park @ the Beach”
  • Approved:       1st Erin Leahey            2nd Barbara Riggio      No Objections
  • Staff will wear yellow T Shirts, campers will wear blue.
  • Hiring positions posted.  Would like the Director position to be filled by 4/15 and the counselor positions by 4/30.
  • We received a Fisher Grant of $10,000
  • $5,000 will be used to bring in guest presenters.
  • $3,500 for craft materials.  This will help purchase a craft a day for the campers to bring home.
  • $1,500 will be used as scholarships for children in need (to be granted on a first come first serve basis)
  • Camper to counselor ratio will be 1:15

Battle of the Bands  Chris Bozadzis

  • Setting up a meeting with the sub-committee
  • Date is 6/11
  • There are different level of donations
  • Look into a port-o-potty

 

Wednesday Night Concert Series   Doug Vitale

  • They need to find funding
  • Geese causing some issues, either need to advertise to bring a chair or hire a service to clean the park the day of the concerts.

Yoga on the Beach

  • Voted to eliminate due to low participation and multiple competing Yoga classes.

Ukulele/Guitar on the Beach   Rob Mercado

  • When: Mondays July 11th, 18th, & 25th, August 1st, 8th, & 15th from 6pm-7pm
  • Where: Maryland Ave Beach, Point Pleasant Beach
  • Fee: $120 per registrant; $150 per registrant with ukulele purchase
  • Rain dates: August 22nd & 29th
  • maximum of 30 registrants

5K Run  – Erin Leahey

  • Date 9/17
  • Asked all members to share on social media.
  • The first meeting was this week.
  • Seeking $3500 in sponsorship.  Sponsorship levels are from $250-$1500.
  • It will be $35-$45 to join depending on the date you register

Manasquan Inlet Tug Ryan Simunovich

  • Point Pleasant and Manasquan are sharing the $5,000 cost of a Media Company .
  • 4/4 training to be help at the Rec Center in Manasquan.

  • Once the time and fees are determined, registration can open.

  • Doug Vital wants to start the planning earlier this year.

  • QR Code or Deli Stand.  Lauren Schule is looking into this.
