Committee Meeting Minutes
Monday March 23, 2020 – 6:30pm – virtual meeting via Zoom
Call to order: 6:34pm by Committee Chairperson Ryan Simunovich
In attendance: Debra Bodine-Vasquez, Kieran Schulz, Ryan Simunovich, Katie Dicorcia, Kelly
McGee, Angela O’Cone, Michele Mosca, Lenore Fastuca, Wendy Yorke
Review prior meeting minutes: Previously shared with members via email for review. A motion to
accept minutes from the February 2020 meeting was made by Debra Bodine-Vazquez and seconded
by Kait Greenberg.
Executive reports:
Chairperson: Ryan Simunovich welcomed members and asked for members to sign up to help on
the subcommittees chart. Ryan stated the Egg Hunt has been canceled and with that, setting up the
summer camp staff is the most pressing matter at this time. Ryan stated a number of employment
applications have been received and that he would seek to extend the application deadline.
Additionally, Ryan stated he will work with John & Shannon Godwin (Point Lobster) on Family Fishing
Day. Ryan explained that the Executive committee members will be holding a monthly leadership call
to prepare for each meeting in an effort to maximize our time. To that end, Ryan reviewed the format
and purpose of the agenda to assist in keeping discussion on topic and meetings efficient and
respectful of everyone’s time.
Correspondence: Michele Mosca has not received any hard copy correspondence. Kelly McGee
reviewed what was received via social media.
Treasurer: no updates reported.
Council Liaison: Doug stated the Kiwanis of Point Boro has reached out regarding their Mets fest,
and that TD Bank has expressed interest in sponsoring the Tug of War.
Subcommittee reports:
Basketball: Kate DiCorcia reported that the end-of-season celebration was canceled, and that
arrangements will need to be made to deliver sponsor plaques. It was suggested that photos of the
plaque get posted Facebook to publicly thank our sponsors. Michele Mosca will take photos and
email them to Kelly and Angela to post.
Bonfire: no updates reported.
Egg Hunt: canceled; see Chairperson’s report.
Family Fishing Day: see Chairperson’s report.
Social Media: Kelly stated there were 120 engagements and 1400 people reached with the summer
camp counselor job postings on Facebook. Additionally, Kelly stated free family activities would be
posted on both the committee website and social media pages.
Summer Camp: Ryan stated interviews for the head counselor and assistant head counselor
positions would be taking place within the next two weeks.
Summertime Surf: no updates reported.
Wrestling: no updates reported.
New business:
Best Day: Ryan stated he is waiting to hear from their events team.
Open discussion:
Several ideas for “At-home challenges” were discussed with the goal of encouraging families to post
photos and videos to our social media. Ideas discussed included “chalk the walk” driveway
messages, rainbows on windows, and virtual yoga. Several other ideas were presented but the
committee agreed they should be organized by themes.
A motion to adjourn the meeting was made by Lenore Fastuca and seconded by Kelly McGee.
