Meeting Discussion:
The meeting opened at 7:15 PM.
The minutes of the April 22 meeting were approved.
There were 160 children attending the Summer Recreation Program. This is
about 40 less than last year apparently due to families still displaced from Hurricane
Sandy. Total revenue was $27K with expenses of $29K. Difference is the cost of 8
volunteer children. Andy Cortes will look into mulch expenditure for which the
Committee rather than DPW was billed. He will also speak with Council members
Dave Cavagnaro and Steve Reid about developing a DPW recreation checklist. We
have submitted an insurance claim for the kild, refrigerator, and hot water heater.
Need to make sure money goes into Recreation Fund.
Matt Nagle presented a detailed report on the Basketball Program (see
attached). The Committee endorsed the plan. However a question arose as to
whether we need to advertise the Director position. Andy Cortes will check with Mary
Ann Ellsworth. If not, Joe Fitzsimmons will be offered the position again.
Glen Paesono would like to get some feedback from the Town Council on Point
Pleasant Boro’s plan to open a recreation center on Arnold Avenue.
Future Recreation events include a Family Fishing night and a Bonfire.
