  • There is great feedback from the businesses and community
  • 300-400 people attended
  • Article in Ocean Star
  • A survey was sent to business owners for their feedback and suggestions for next year.

 

First Friday: Friday March 4th

  • The Chamber of Commerce asked us to use this event as a teaser for ShamRock.
  • We will be at 2 locations: Little Point Book Shop and Top That Doughnut.
  • Kids can paint rocks and shells
    • Rocks will be hidden around town for a scavenger hunt the day of ShamRock
    • Shells will be painted green and placed under the tree on Bay in a ShamRock outline
      • We need more shells. Please try to collect.

 

 

Executive reports:

 

Recreation Department Treasurer Janet George

  • Reviewed rules for collecting payment
    • Cash must be turned in within 24 hours, Municipay. Janet is looking into getting a swipe for payments
    • Prior to any purchases being made you must get a Purchase Order approved by the town council
    • You can also let Janet or Lauren know if you want to make a purchase from vendors that we have existing accounts with. Janet has a list of these providers.

 

  • There was a discussion about having a 50/50 or donation bowl at each event.

There is a process needed to sell  50/50’s.  For ShamRock Janet will manage the donation Bowls.

 

 

 

Recreation Department Liaison Councilman Doug Vitale

  • Pleasure Park
    • The lights will be extended to cover the entire park. Lights will be on a timer.
    • Bushes by the restroom are being pulled because they block the security cameras.
    • Looking into adding a dedicated Pickle Ball Court.
  • Matt Luongo had to step down, so we are looking for another Co-Chair.

 

 

Sub Committee Reports

ShamRock     Lauren Schule

  • Date: March 12th, 2022 Location: Arnold and Bay
  • Registration is up – all members are asked to share this on their social media
  • Set up is at 11:00. Hours are 12-4.
  • 5 Leprechauns will be on Arnold from 12-2. Kids need to “stump” them to gain gold coins.  Carnival Games will be on Bay.  There will be Irish Dancers and an Irish Band
  • Trying to confirm a “beer garden” by Last Wave
  • Volunteers are needed the night before to hide rocks and the day of ShamRock.
  • Adding a Recreation Sign Up Sheet near registration to try and recruit more members.

 

PickleBall Tony Novo

  • Wed 6-9 in Pleasure Park
  • May bring in a host and set up clinics
  • Would like to use the tennis courts to set up 4 Pickle Ball Courts.
  • Ryan suggested putting up wind nets.
  • May create an adult league on the same day at Pleasure Park with corn hole, bocce and pickleball.
  • Would like the fees to be raised to $25 for the season.

  • Location Pleasure Park
  • Pizza and Hoffman’s Ice Cream was donated. Top That Donut also wants to participate.
  • There is no rain date.
  • There may be an age limit and egg limit on the day of the egg hunt

Summer Camp           Lauren Schule

  • 7/11 – 8/19
  • The times were extended to 8:15 – 1:00

  • The cost was increased to $300 for residents

  • Working with MMDA, Rob spoke to them and has bands lined up, sub committee meeting will be set up soon.
