Lauren Schule

1- Show Us Your Heart

  • Huge Success
  • Thank you to the committee and many volunteers
  • 200 + Kids attended
  • Very Positive Feedback from the community

2- Social Media -Sam

  • Sam will start the photo circle app and everyone on the committee will be added. This will help to make a successful hype video. 1200 likes on social media page but only 400 follow the page. Majority are Beach Residents, some are from Point Boro/

3- New Member Update

  • New Members were all introduced and signed off on the bilaws.

4- Tresurer Report- Rob Mercado

  • Spending money on items that would be expected for the current events is taking place. Show us your Heart made a profit of $300. Sham-Rock— Total spending to date is approximately $1600. Total Spending is expected to be approximately $4000. This is expected to be a great event with a wonderful turnout.
  • We are plus $10,000 coming into the year. Approximately at $90,000 in account.

 

Council Liaison Report-Doug Vitale

  • The Recreation Committee will receive an additional $5,000 from the town for the budget.
  • Pleasure Park Upgrade-
  • Possible ideas-Knock down the existing shed, and build a house like structure or another structure. Have Bocce Ball courts. Take the existing fence down and enclose with a fence similar to what is now at the skatepark. Or possibly a new chain link fence. Storage will be key when considering the type of new structure that will be built.

 

 

Fundraising Campaign

  • Town hall said The Rec Committee and the Arts Committee should get funding in fine tune. Request for Proposal will be used so we can use who we want for fundraising and we will work together with the Arts Committee. Big Name sponsors fall under the Request for Proposal.

 

IV Sub Committees

 

Sham Rock

  • Date of event is April 1 2023
  • Will be held on Chanel Drive
  • BoatYard will Sponsor
  • Similar concept as to last year-Kids will find the 5 leprechauns, the kids will receive 5 pieces of gold if they can stump the leprechaun and solve the riddle. Once participants earn the 5 pieces of gold they will get a prize.
  • 300 spots will be available for attendees to register for.
  • 100 + are currently registered.
  • Everyone should sign up soon.
  • All needed items for the day of the event are ordered.
  • Sam ( Last Name) is in charge of prizes.
  • Barbara Palombo is in charge of games for the kids.
  • Laura Kermin is in charge of the good bags. High School students will be helping with the bags to earn service hours.
  • We have 3 Leprechauns- Rob Mercado, Nick Vitale, and Danielle Dolan.
  • The Parade will consist of- The Port Authority Police, Girls HS Soccer and Boys HS baseball.
  • The parade route is Shore Fresh to Spikes.
  • Doug and Rob recently visited all the businesses on the parade route. Point Lobster has expressed a concern with the direct route to Broadway as they receive deliveries all day.
  • Due to these concerns the parade route is being discussed. Possibly close a portion of St Louis Avenue. May use portion of St. Louis for vendors and games?
  • We may need to move the music down from the Boatyard Deck due to construction happening at Boat Yard.

 

Pickle Ball

  • Registration open on 3/1/23
  • Non Residents 3/8/23
  • The program will cap at 40 participants
  • There has been a lot of interest in Pickle Ball registration.
  • Court 1 will be beginners
  • Court 2 and 3 Medium Play
  • Court 4 Competitive Play

 

Egg Hunt

  • Will take place on 4/8/23
  • start time 12:00
  • Doug Vitale presented that at last council meeting it was discussed if this event was free for residents. Committee voted for charge to go from 5.00 a child to $2.00 per child to register.

  • Everyone in favor
  • There will be 3 age groups with different times to start.
  • Everything is purchased for this event. Just some craft supplies may still be needed.
  • Volunteers will be needed for the following:
  • Stuff and hide eggs, Clean up.
  • Katie DiCorcia is working on more prizes for the event.
  • A bunny Costume is available.
  • Doug Vitale will notify Pastor Robert at St Peters of the event details.

 

 

Porch Fest

  • It was discussed do we want to put this event on hold till next year. We can start planning in January. In past meetings we discussed possibly holding this event on June 10. We will put on hold to start to plan to next year and hopefully hold the event in the Fall.

Skate Board Lessons

  • $120 per child

  • No Update, we need someone to look into this and find out what will be needed.

Battle of the Bands-Bill Schule

  • Chris is looking at the top 10 bands
  • T shirts are being discussed
  • There is a cost of $3-4,000 to start up this event
  • Fundraising will be needed
  • This event will be much bigger this year
  • The Boat Races are the same date which is June 10. We can not alter the time to start. Parade is 5 pm and the Band is 6 pm.
  • We are looking at businesses to sponsor the Battle of the Bands, please let Bill Schule know if you know of a local sponsor.
  • Budget for the Race- Doug will follow up and make a note.
  • Chris will need to coordinate with the boat parade the logistics.

 

 

Football Camp – No Update.

 

Ukelele Program -Lauren Schule

  • The program is all set.
  • 2/28/23 the registration will open.
  • 6 sessions
  • Will take place at the Maryland Avenue Beach.
  • If you dont need a instrument cost is $120. If you need one cost is $155.
  • Vote to approve cost
  • 1st in favor Erica Susko
  • 2nd in favor Rob Mercado

 

 

Summer Camp-Lauren Schule

  • Directors are being interviewed this week.
  • 6 counselor applications are currently in.
  • 5/15 registration will start.

 

Running Club- Erica

  • Someone emailed interest in a 5 K for the morning of the Tug. Manasquan to Jenks, Road closures and water stations would have to be discussed. This may be difficult to coordinate for the day of the Tug.
  • Also day of Seafood Fest hold a 5 K
  • Idea presented for a Couch to a 5 K program. A schedule would be offered and have ready for September.
  • A subcommittee for running club was discussed and Lauren Schule took names of those interested.
  • Idea of a walking club was discussed for people who can’t run. Possibly called Get out of your Seat and Move Your Feet.

 

Summer Concert Series

  • Doug Vitale will look into the Band List.
  • We are in need of a band that plays kids music.
  • Plan to kick off the Series last weekend of June to end the school year.
  • Bands so far confirmed:
  • Brittles-Beatles Cover Band
  • Anthony De Vito-Frank Sinatra Band
  • Jessica Rose-Country Singer
  • We want to partner with local restaurants and have a different restaurant at each series performance.
  • 00 suggested donation for people attending the performances,
  • 50/50 will be sold at each series event.

 

 

 

Hey Rube Event 9/24/23

  • Presented by Tara
  • Participants age 16 and up.
  • Everyone in costume.
  • Run to the water, swim 50 yards and to tube and swim back.
  • Parade Route will be , Ocean Avenue, Inlet to Martells
  • Trophies for Winners of the races
  • Costume Winners.
  • $40 to register for race with shirt.
  • $50 with sweatshirt
  • You can register the day of. Pine Belt is a Sponsor.
  • For People who want to sponsor- $500 all advertising and no social media.
  • OR $1, 000 All social media and advertising
  • Doug is working on the Coast Guard Permit
  • Board Dash will be in the water for support. The Logo is all set.
  • Jenkinsons is giving 3 lifeguards to the event. We need 4-6 Buoys for the water.
  • Martels will have $3.00 beers.

 

 

Basketball Rob Mercado/Doug Vitale

  • Nick Aldiero- basketball instructor would like to come in for last day and do a Kinder Instruction for 30 minutes on the last day. We can bring him in next year as a RFP needs to be completed.

 

Fundraising

  • NO Update

 

Benches at Pleasure Park

  • Maybe taking applications for for Memorial Benches Town hall will let Doug Know.

 

LIttle Silver Lake- Doug Vitale

  • Plan is to cut down foo the weeds and allow for a view of the lake.
  • To be discussed -Use the lake for future events possibly floating Christmas Trees, Floating Witches , Holiday based events etc.

 

New Business

Erica ( Last Name)

  • Has noticed many events are for families and kids. Erica mentioned wanting to add a Once a month Social Club, Possibly meet at a local place during happy hour.
  • 2-3 volunteers can attend and welcome participants.
  • This could be a way to meet new people. Erica will start email for volunteers.

 

Best Day

  • Doug Vitale confirmed no update.

 

Town Decorating Committee-Doug Vitale

  • This committee will be used for future events
  • The goal is to make the town a destination for the Holidays and More.
