Executive Reports

Chairperson Lauren Schule

  • Skatepark registration underway for 3 levels.
  • Pickleball court lines have been painted. 50 registered.  May have a Wed/Thur session
  • Egg Hunt had over 300 children.
    • We now have DJ equipment that we can use at other events.

 

  • Janet George could not attend but passed on that $191 was collected in donations at the Egg Hunt.

 

 

Recreation Department Liaison Councilman Doug Vitale

  • Reviewed the requirements for any new events and the approval process.
  • Lights in Pleasure Park – waiting on a quote to have additional lights installed.
  • The Chamber of Comm’s BBQ is 5/15.

 

Sub Committee Reports

Wrestling Kelly McGee

  • 13 People registered.

 

Battle of the Bands  Chris Bozadzis

  • Graphics are done
  • Posters printed and hung
  • 9 bands have applied
  • Sub Committee to hold auditions
  • To help raise money there were discussions of T Shirt Sales or a hot dog cart.
  • Steven Dews has a friend that can MC

 

Skate Park  Kelly McGee

  • No Update

 

Summer Camp           Lauren Schule

  • Registration is ready and supplies have been ordered
  • A Director and Assistant Director have been hired.
  • In the process of hiring all Lead Counselors (6 hired so far, 2 more positions to fill).
  • Lead Sports, Lead A&C, Lead 6-8 and Lead K-2 have been hired.
  • Interviewing for counselors next week.

 

Soccer Camp  Tony Novo

  • May not make sense for us to offer as there are so many other soccer programs available.

 

 

Wednesday Night Concert Series   Doug Vitale

  • Jenks is not having concerts this summer.
  • This will be expensive as we will need a sound guy and band
  • For this year, perhaps limit it to 3 concerts.
  • Sub committeee needs to determine style and funding.

 

Trip to Blue Claws  Dana Brereton

  • Charter Bus $300. 56 fit on a buss.
  • $68 would be the cost w/o food.
  • Looking into waiting till Aug bc there are fireworks.

Best Day Dana Brereton

  • Day of surfing for handicapped children on Maryland Beach.
  • BC of Covid they only want to have one event, they selected Brick. So this will be for next year.

Kids Inlet Fishing Derby  Ryan Simunovich

  • Permit is in.

 

Bags on the Beach  Lou Vassalotti

  • Meeting with Toby from Jenkison’s to get some dates
  • Would like to add a “tug practice” on the same days.
  • Spoke with Matt Luongo regarding where to get the corn hole boards.

 

Summertime Surf Camp 

  • Eliminated

 

Ukulele/Guitar on the Beach   Rob Mercado

  • Permit has not yet been approved.
  • Setting up the dates and rain dates
  • Capped at 30 and excepts to sell out again this year.

Manasquan Inlet Tug Ryan Simunovich

  • We should add Point Pleasant on to some of the ads/ shirts
  • Lou Vassalotti and Lauren Schule in charge of the logistics.
  • Looking into adding a Break-system to stop participants from falling.
  • There is a new registration site
  • 4/29 is the date to launch for advertising
  • Make a Wish is offering to try and get sports celebrities to come
  • Date is 10/1
  • Looking into screens and live stream technology
  • Should a volunteer tug de added

 

 

Flag FootBall –  Bill Schule

  • Bill spoke to the football coach.
  • This will be a 3 day session; June 27th – June 29th
  • We will get the flags from the school.
  • Need to set up the registration and get kids footballs.

  • Memorial Park Benches with Chess boards at Pleasure Park
  • Next phase in Pleasure Park is to pull our fences and add wind blockers.
    • Funds needed to repair bocce court.
    • Plan is to knock down current building and build a rec center.
