Anne reported that the borough has postponed issuing a revised bid request for repairs to the bathhouse.
Members of the Point Pleasant Library Association provided background information on the history of the library and its participation in the Ocean County Library system. Additionally, they have already made a request at the last council meeting for council support for repairs to the building. There was agreement, by the committee, that the Library Association should apply for the Investor’s Bank grant for repairs. In light of the fact that the borough has been taxed $781,000 in 2015 for the Ocean County Library, the committee agreed that the council should approach the county to see what financial aid they could provide for repairs. After additional discussion, the commission on a vote of 4 to 1 agreed to recommend the use of borough funds to augment the Library Association’s reserves, capital fund drive efforts and potential Investor’s Grant fund for library repairs. The committee did take exception to not recommend funding replacement windows on the association’s repair list provided.
Anne will draft memo on the committee’s agreements, regarding repairs to the library, for input and approval by the Open Space Advisory Committee before submitting to the council.
