Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Point Pleasant Beach Open Space Advisory Committee
February 22, 2023 Meeting Minutes
Present: Glen Paesano, Anne Lightburn, Sal Pepe, Tony Novo and Erica Susko
Absent: Greg Cox, Kristin Hennessy and council liaisons Arlene Testa and Doug Vitale
Anne Lightburn called the meeting to order at 7:05 pm
Anne welcomed newly appointed representatives from the Recreation Committee Tony Novo and Erica Susko.
Anne nominated Glen Paesano to serve as chairman and the vote was unanimous. Anne was nominated to serve as secretary and the vote was unanimous.
There was a review of the borough’s history of the open space initiative and the relationship with the state’s Green Acres program. There were questions about the borough open space trust fund. Anne will ask Arlene Testa to get the current financials from Chris Riehl. Glen provided Tony and Erica with copies of the Open Space and Recreation plan.
Glen brought up changing the Meeting date for the commission from the second Thursday of the month either the second or third Monday of the month. Anne volunteered to contact Eileen Farrell to see if that change is possible.
There was a general discussion on ideas for improvements to the borough’s open space properties, including Pleasure Park and the three lakes. Glen brought up the lack of legal clarification on the jurisdiction for Lake Louise as it relates to improvements and public use. The committee will request legal clarification.
