#2 Historical Property Database
Bill Lyons updated the Historical Property Database of which 45 are identified. Six properties have been demolished. Jerry Wooley reported a resolution to the discrepancies between the PPB Tax Office and the PPB Historic Preservation Committee database, concerning the house, lot, and block numbers.
Two current properties were also discussed, a.) The property on 303 Woodland Ave., which has been purchased by the Manzo family & is slated to be demolished in December. Jerry Wooley is to provide the Town with information showing the home’s historical significance to PPB and possibly save the home with a renovation. b.) The recently abandoned Point Bay Fuel Co. on Rt 35N has an application to become the Point Bay Fuel Brewery of which the purchasers want to raise and move the 2 separate dwellings closer to the NJ Transit RR tracks. The Historical Preservation Committee’s position is that these historical buildings are too fragile for moving & possibly destroyed inadvertently. Also, rather than frontal parking incurred by the move, Google Maps show adequate parking on the side & rear of building. An entrance on the North side of the dwelling, leading into the parking area with a safe exit on the South side of the dwelling. This gives vehicles a safe view of oncoming Rt 35N traffic. Jerry Wooley is to send the Town a resume of the historical importance to PPB.
Status: All Members in approval.
#3 Historical Building Plaques
It was decided that 15 plaques will be ordered from FastSigns once the dual QR Codes have been developed. Joe Rodgers will be requesting Councilman Doug Vitale’s assistance with the codes & auto-links to the PPB website & a Historical Building site to explain each building’s past history.
Meeting Notes Continued
The cost of each plaque is $488.00, totaling $7320.00. Funding to come from the Fisher Family Fund. Application needed.
