#1 Historical Plaque Status

 

Discuss newly created QR Codes, created by Doug Vitale & Website destinations, created by Chris Cochran. It was determined that Joe Rodgers would forward the vendor, FastSigns, the plaque sketch & QR Code files & request vendor to supply a professional drawing of the final product. Also instructing the vendor that when the drawing is approved, the Commission will supply a list of the first 15 dwelling addresses for individual plaque etchings. The payment for the professional drawing to be debited from The Fisher Family Fund.  Also gathering a second list of dwellings once the first round of plaques are complete.

#2 Update of Point Bay Fuel Building

 

The purchase and plan for a brewery for the Point Bay Fuel Building was approved by the Town Council. Movement of 1 structure on-site & overall construction to begin soon.  Jerry Woolley provided artist renderings of the brewery & parking situation.  Owners stated that the 1 building to be moved would be carefully lifted & situated inward to NJ Transit, as they were told it was a Historical structure, important to Point Pleasant Beach.

         Status: Closed

 

 

#3 Gottlieb Building Update

 

The Gottlieb Building has installed new lower-level glass windows & that the 1st floor will be completed for occupation soon. Mary Pearce suggested to have window displays placed in the windows to make the building look less inactive downtown until construction was complete. All present Committee Members agreed with the suggestion.

#4 Severance House Update

 

The Manzo Family, owners of the Severance House, have decided to demolish the dwelling. Mr. Manzo is asking the Town for a height variance for the new home. This Committee is asking the Town to request Mr. Manzo to salvage and donate some Historical items from the home to be demolished.

 #5   Status of 11 properties from 1980 Ocean County Survey

 

A list of the 11 properties was distributed to attending members. Bill Lyons gave the current status of 4 properties in question of historical importance. 13 Atlantic Ave. was deemed Historical & should be placed on list. 1 Trenton Ave. was considered too modified from original dwelling & will not be considered Historical. 106 Forman Ave. was still being investigated by Tony Haddad, therefore no decision made. Bill provided pictures showing the style of Cape Dutch Architecture concerning 112 New Jersey Ave. The dwelling was seen up to the 1920 Historical Aerial View & the physical building today looks basically the same as the original structure. It was decided to consider it Historical.  Bill also provided a new additional property pictures and property background info on 420 Woodland Ave. which will be put into the database of Historical Properties.

         #6 NJ History & Historic Preservation Conference

 

         The NJ History & Historic Preservation Conference is to be held June 3, 2022 in Trenton, NJ. Several

         Committee Members expressed interest in attending.  Greg Cox asked Joe Rodgers to contact Eileen

         Farrell (Town Hall) to see if there were budgetary monies available to cover the Conference  

         expenses.  An email was sent on 03/03/2022.

        #7 Miscellaneous Topics

         Bill Lyons stated that in Town Hall’s attic there may be Historical town information worthy of

         investigation. Will need permission. Jerry Woolley stated a new owner of property 516 Bay Ave., in

         the Historic Overlay Zone, was interested in renovating the building to its original façade. Mary

         Pearce asked if additional Members or Alternates could be added to the PPB Historic Preservation

         Commission. Greg Cox stated that the Town Ordinance allowed 9 Members, no Alternates but said

         Town Council would need to vote for adding 2 Alternates. Greg Cox noted that the Bank of America

         building and Ocean First building were up for sale.
