         #1 Meeting Minutes Approval for 5/10/2023:     All Commission Members Approved

 

#2 All Members voted unanimously to give William Lyons “Emeritus Status” after retiring from the PPBHPC.

#3 ZOOM Meeting Creation

 

Gregory Cox will create the ZOOM Meeting platform/phone number by next Meeting for use of PPBHPC absentee Members.

#4 Ocean County Atlas Presentation

 

 Jerry Woolley brought the 1957 Ocean County Atlas to the Meeting. Jerry made a digital copy of the Atlas for preservation & research purposes. Jerry described how the Atlas drawings were first put together. It was later added onto by manual cut & paste methods to update dwellings and property/road changes.  Jerry discussed how the Atlas  was updated in the 1960’s and phased out in the 1970’s. Jerry stated that some of the maps within the Atlas were still copyrighted and were not for public use or to be used on the Town’s website; segmented portions can be used for information within the QR Codes of the Historical Plaques being created by PPBHPC.

 #5 Plaque Presentation & Information

 

 It was determined that that the first Plaque issued will be presented to the Library on Curtis Ave. Mary Pearce contacted Anna McNamara, from the Library Association  and agreed to host a ceremony at the Library for August 1, 2023 at 7:00pm. Additional guests to be invited will be Steve Fisher, Mayor Paul Kanitra, Doug Vitale & Chris Cochran who were vital in the Historical Plaque Project. Mary Pearce will contact the Ocean Star Newspaper for public coverage.

It was decided by PPBHPC Members that the 2nd Plaque to be presented, will be to Hardware Store on Arnold Ave. & Rt 35S. Gregory Cox will contact the building owner & discuss a date for presentation,

#7 PPBHPC Recognition In Town Newsletter

 

John Monticello spoke with Douglas Vitale about including the PPBHPC accomplishments/plans into the Town Newsletter mailing. Doug stated that inclusion will occur in the September/October issue.

#8 Coast Guard Station

 

It was discussed that the Town of Point Pleasant Beach is still moving forward with purchasing the old Coast Guard Station. The timeline is uncertain.
