Schedule of next meeting – discussion to meet on 11/19 instead of 11/26, the eve before Thanksgiving
Introduction of new members
Motion by Pete to adopt August meeting minutes, 2nd by Cathy. Minutes approved
Report of Officers
· Chairman – Announcements, mail, (Rutgers class on lake management in Bordentown Environmental Commission Membership (New Members), green building at Holiday Inn in Toms River 9-4 – Barnegat Bay Beat – demolition at the inlet – Environmental awards –
· No treasurer Report
Committee Task Force and Project Status Reports
· Council Status Report – Kris T– Bike parking ordinance passed – working on elements of the master plan – newsletter is going out – Lake Louise dredging next cycle – Lake of the Lillies cutting of phragmities
· Shade Tree Committee –Kris T–tree ordinance should be introduced at next Council meeting – a lot of public education – curtailing indiscriminate cutting of trees – trees are a resource that need to be managed – Forestry Management Plan is in the works – Pete Renner will research info on value of mature trees on property – working on plan for Arnold Ave
· Recycling Task Force – Ben – active & diverse committee – grant for recycling cans applied for – reached out to St Peters School again – Friday at Silver Lake Lot we have hazardous waste drop off – Wednesday a meeting at Martell’s – White Sands issue about getting dumpsters out of street –committee is working on a cost study involving trash/recycling/pick ups – County has redone S. OC recycling center –next meeting is 11/5. – Council passed ordinance on recycling – active stickers & door hanger for having recycling in trash or in-proper – for 2008, we are receiving a rebate of $9900 from county for recyclable material – for 2007 the recycling rate is lower than in 2006 because commercial numbers haven’t been input into the county information –
· Open Space Advisory Committee – Anne – Risdens has been approved -green acres meeting was on Monday – we can operate the bathrooms, parking lot & concession stands – parking is very important to beach access & they have committed a $1.5MM in green acres funding
· Planning Board and CAFRA Reviews – Tom – looking for new rep as Tom is out of town a great deal of the time
New Business
· Monofilament fishing line recycling receptacles-Sharon – installed – how about to the Fishing Flea Market- have to work out the details
· Environmental Commission Scrapbook, file, archives – Pete asked if someone want to take this over? – Pete may have someone he can ask to take this over
· Sea Food Festival – handed out a lot of literature –
· Cigarette receptacles-Cathy – Kathy Foley told them that Belmar has them. Found on internet – Woodstock has a can receptacle with a hole in it – purchasing these is from $60 – $100 plus – perhaps some of service clubs at high school would be willing to make them up – Cathy & Kris will float idea at high school
· Maryland Ave beach clean-up and dune grass planting 11/9/08 – CRAB & Env Comm – time to be determined – how about at Loughran Point too?

How to distribute the Become a Barnegat Bay Buddy – Wednesday envelope & spring time distribution – Chamber/Library
Rikover Park – contract to restore it the way it was – we want to make it over – Clem working on it.- we want to make it treed & rain garden – County study said it doesn’t work for parking
