- Treasurer’s Report:
The Committee’s Treasurer was not present; the report was not available to discuss.
- Upcoming Events
- Photography Classes at PPB Library – Carmelina is lead. Carmelina advised that the current Presenter, Glen Malmberg, was scheduled to give classes at the Library through December. Going forward, Sonya volunteered her space at Vintage Van Gogh’s to hold the classes in. Some ideas for future photography-oriented classes were Photoshop and light room software; some ideas for technology classes were Drones, Word Press. Any future classes should be advertised more on our website along with Facebook and Instagram.
- Paint with Us in the Bandshell – Mary Ellen lead, Linda and Penny assisting. Mary Ellen advised that the sessions will continue, weather and schedules permitting. She also advised that local artist, Pauline Nichol, had attended one of the sessions.
- Murals – Jim lead for local business. Jim advised that Jill had started the mural on the Bay Fuel’s wall by the train station. It will eventually read “Greetings from Point Pleasant Beach” with perhaps a jetty scene on the right side. Agreed that Jill be paid $500 plus possibly $250 for more paint purchased for this mural. She used whatever paint was left over from the Jenk’s mural for this work, but had to purchase additional paint to complete. Jim also advised that the next mural will be located on the Kid’s club behind Joe Leone’s, on the wall facing Rte 35 N. Work will likely start on that in the Spring/Summer of 2020. Jim also advised that he was considering a mural for the 2nd story of Stella E Luna. Laurie will send Jim a Purchase Order so that Jill can be paid.
- Rock Painting – Kristi lead. Kristi advised that this project’s timing will be coordinated with the Art Teacher at Antrim. She will also find out the cost of delivery of the rocks from Rte. 34 Gravel so that volunteers do not have to go and pick up the rocks on their own. Thinking that the load will contain approximately 400 rocks, which will need to be washed off prior to painting.
- Vintage Van Gogh Pumpkin Painting – Sonya lead. Date set for October 12th. Cost will be $20 per adult $15 for kids. Family session to take place between 1:00 and 4:00, adult session between 4:00 and 6:00. Need to coordinate advertising to get the word out. Talk to Christopher about placing on our website and Facebook page. Laurie will post in the event page of the Ocean Star.
- Seafood Festival– Arts Committee arranged to have a table at the Festival. Carmelina volunteered to take lead. Mary Ellen volunteered to set up in the A.M. with her husband and supply the table, tent and chairs, Carmelina will coordinate the rest of the volunteers, time-wise. Kim ordered handout cards. Agreed that since we don’t have the photo of the new mural to place on hats and T-shirts, not to move ahead printing them. Paul will arrange to get the banner for the table. Donations for raffle include wine cozies, gift certificate from Vintage Van Gogh’s, photo taken by Carmelina, sketch by Jim Inzero, autographed book from Deb Smith. Raffle could be placed by all who like our Facebook and Instagram pages. Carmelina will draft raffle tickets for submission.
- Proposed trip to Gardens for Sculpture – Tracey lead. She advised that the cost might be prohibitive to get participants; $900 for the bus would run attendees $50 at the very least. Kim indicated she would look into a price for another bus company. Alternatively, participants can car pool there and then join in the Guided Tour, sponsored by the Arts Committee. Agreed upon date is November 3rd. Hard decision by next meeting in October for cost and transportation.
- Fall Movie Night – Kim lead. Kim advised that she was thinking of having the event at B2, upstairs, showing a Halloween movie. Buffet dinner, open bar. Mid-week date possible. She will know for certain this week after she speaks to B2.
