Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes
October 19, 2020

The meeting was held virtually via Zoom and was called to order at 7:00 pm by Secretary, Laurie Vicari
Attendees: The following members, volunteers and liaisons were in attendance: Paul Kanitra, Arlene Testa, Kristi Monticello, Laurie Vicari, Carmelina Carra, Tracy Jackson, Penny Davies, Joylene Rock, Judy van Brunt, Christopher Corcoran, Jim Inzero.
Laurie Vicari, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.
The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.
- Chairperson’s Report:
No report was made.
- Vice Chairperson’s Report:
Kristi Monticello, Vice Chairperson reported that new member Andrea Bowne had joined the Committee. She also reported that the Committee was seeking a Treasurer to fill the empty position.
- Treasurer– role needs to be filled.
- Secretary’s Report:
Secretary, Laurie Vicari reported that she would be keeping everyone updated regarding upcoming meetings and their virtual connections.
- 2020 Scheduled and Proposed Virtual Events:
- Juried Art Show and Reception – Christopher advised that he was wrapping up the website tonight; was including 3D renderings of artwork in frames on the gallery. Kristi advised that social media promotion was up and going and that we would start featuring the artists on our FB page. Intention is to feature them as well in email blasts as well as Ocean Star.
- Carve or Decorate a Pumpkin – Kristi advised that the event was being advertised and receiving some interest.
- Vintage Van Goghs Virtual Art Classes – Virtual class to be held on Sunday, November 15 – children’s education art class. We are cross promoting with VVG. Christopher will get up on our website. Judy will do an email blast.
- What Inspires You Blog – training is on hold right now – waiting for Christopher.
- Upcoming 2020 “in person” Events:
- Homegrown Book and Art Fair – Kim lead – Laurie reported in Kim’s absence. Said that fair was well attended – approximately a few hundred or so people in and out during the day. Little Point Bookshop and Barefoot Real Estate on board to host again next year.
- Coastal co – op – Laurie advised that Mary Ellen indicated she would be interested in having an after school art program.
- Do You Wanna Build a Snowman? Joylene advised that she would get everything to Christopher in order for him to post on website. Said we could probably use Barefoot Real Estate and VVG as pick up points for wood forms.
- Downtown Gallery – Kristi and Laurie advised that they would be working with the Town Quality of Life Coordinator to move forward. Jim Inzero agreed that he could source artists. Work in progress.
- Winter Wonderland – proposed collaboration with the Rec Committee. Suggested date Dec 12th at Pleasure Park. Weekly discussions ongoing. Arts Committee will collaborate for arts and crafts tables.
- 2020 Gala – Joylene advised that the White Sands hasn’t come up with any indoor/outdoor space ideas. We will look into other options. Wharfside? Joylene and Andrea will discuss location ideas next week. Possibly hold in April 2021.
- Murals – Paul advised that he was contacted by the White Sands and they want to have a mural done on their building(s). He was going to meet with them this coming week to discuss. No update on the Jaeger Building yet.
- Point Beach Arts Committee website – on hold – waiting for Christopher to schedule training on the backend of the website so that others can post. Possibly the first or second week of November.
- Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:10.
