Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes
 
The meeting was held in the office of Borough Hall and was called to order at 7:00 by Paul Kanitra.
Attendees:  Paul Kanitra, Alex Taylor, Kim Allen, Tim Allen, Deb Smith, Christopher Cochran, James Dalton, Sonya Fisher, Tracey Jackson, Carmelina Carra, Joylene Rock, Peter Culos, Laura DiPasquale, Jackie DiPasquale, Lisa Lewis, Marianne England.  Laurie Vicari, Secretary was absent.  Tim Allen took meeting minutes in her place. 
The minutes of the September 2019 were unanimously approved as read. 
Treasurer’s Report:  Marianne stressed that everything needs to have a receipt or invoice for payment.  $2000 +/-  in account.  $10,650 in trust.  Wants to go through bills to see what we need and what we don’t from Cathy’s expense pile.  We should cancel Google Suite and save some with Christopher hosting our site. Get rid of Wix when it’s fully moved to Word Press.
 
Upcoming Events: 
 
Photography Classes – Library classes are ending.  Need new angle for them for next year.
Paint with us – Had a new painter.  Penny is going away.  Will continue with nice weather.
Murals – New mural at train station is almost done.  Jill was paid.  Joe Leone’s building is next.  Alex is checking to see if/where Jenk’s wants to do another one.
Rock Painting – will revisit in the spring.  Rocks need to be picked up and cleaned.
Pumpkin Painting – wasn’t well attended.  Not advertised enough.
Seafood Festival – Last minute donation jar raised $55.  Got lots of emails.  Prize winners were happy.  Need more volunteers for next year. It was a long day that would be easier if the volunteer time slots were shorter.
Fall Movie Night – Kim is not happy with advertising.  No RSVPs.
Gardens for Sculpture – Maybe get a small group together and meet there. 
Flash Mob – Kristi Lead.  Work in progress.  Spoke about using emails from last year to reach back out to people. Christopher & Deb to speak to Cathy about list that was used.
Trolley Tour – not happening
Snowman Decorating Contest – Laura, Jackie and Paul to take lead on this.  Will try to get Jaeger to donate wood.  Maybe have them cut in woodshop class.  Involve Key Club.  $10 for residents.  $50 or $100 for businesses. 
 
Storage Space – 1 month out…again.
Marianne England – Still trying to coordinate visit from Metuchen Arts Committee Chair.
Website – Christopher needs key from Cathy to fully transfer everything over.  Needs content.  Would like to do a featured artists section on whoever is displaying their work in town hall.  Need to figure out a central calendar.  Deb had suggestions.
Deb Smith – wants to streamline how we handle marketing.  Submit content through website – automatically add to calendar.  Need all event info and an image.  Peter may be able to help with graphics when needed.  Limit text on images when sharing on social media. Need to figure out how to handle paid advertising on FB/IG. Suggested using Mail Chimp for email blasts.  Need to put process in place so everyone is on the same page.
2020 Gala – Joylene is meeting with White Sands next week to lock down date and to find out what worked for them and what didn’t last year. She went over list of sub committees/volunteers needed for the gala.  Will send out email with slots that need to be filled.  Need to know the number of ticket sales from last year.  Will limit juried art show this year.  Open submissions, but judge what is submitted and only display the best ones and fill the correct amount of space.  Carmelina stressed that we need to figure out how the artwork will be hung this year.  Last year was not efficient and made holes in the walls.

    1. Photography Classes at Vintage Van Gogh’s – Carmelina lead.  Two classes in September not advertised and cancelled.  Future classes – need advertisement. 
    2. Paint With Us at Bandshell – Mary Ellen lead, Linda and Penny assisting.  Takes place Thursdays from 10:00 to 2:00 pm.  Free Event.   Will hold again next year?
    3. Murals – Jim lead.  New mural going on wall next to Train Station – completed, was Jill paid.?  Building behind Joe Leone’s on calendar to be done as well in spring of 2020 and 2nd floor of Stella E Luna.    Any new murals planned for Jenks?
    4. Rock Painting – Kristi lead, to advise on progress to coordinate with Art Teacher at Antrim.  Cost of delivery for rocks?
    5. Vintage Van Gogh pumpkin painting – Sonya lead.  Date set for October 12th. Cost will be $20 per adult $15 for kids.  Family session to take place between 1:00 and 4:00, adult session between 4:00 and 6:00.  Advertised in Ocean Star and Facebook. 
    6. Seafood Festival – Arts Committee arranged to have a table at the Festival.  Carmelina volunteered to take lead.  Anyone who visited the table interested in volunteering on the Committee?  Were raffle prizes distributed?
    7. Fall Movie Night – Kim lead – to be held at B2 Bistro on October 30.  $5 donation and special menu.
    8. Proposed trip to Gardens for Sculpture – Tracey lead – date of November 3rd.    Decide on cost and transportation.
    9. 11/29 Flash Mob/Caroling – Kristi lead. Work in progress.
    10. Trolley Tour – Marisa lead, coordinating with Brian?  Work in progress.  Committee agreed will run for 3 days.
  4. Storage of equipment – Availability of Boro Hall Basement – date?
  5. Marianne England – invite Chairperson of Metuchen Arts Committee to one of our meetings. 
  6. Website – Infrastructure and website development progress – Christopher lead, Carmelina assisting. 
  7. Deb Smith – intern assisting with media advertising.
  8. 2020 Gala – Joylene lead – meeting with White Sands?  Decide on date and co leads.
