Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes
November 14, 2022
The meeting was held at the Municipal Building Council Meeting Room, 416 New Jersey Ave., PPB and called to
order by Chairperson Lauren Goldfarb Edwards at 7:10 pm.
Attendees: The following members and volunteers were in attendance: Lauren Goldfarb Edwards, Kristi
Monticello, Judy VanBrunt, Tracy Jackson, Larry Schwartz, Arlene Testa
Judy VanBrunt, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.
The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.
1. Chairperson’s Report: Looking for a Treasurer! We’ve been working with the town on our financing and all is
going well. We will use Municipay for all events involving payments.
2. Vice Chairperson’s Report: no report
3. Treasurer’s Report: no report
4. Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the 10/10/22 meeting were approved as read.
5. Past Events and Recap:
a. Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall – Meet the artist event with Joan Tozzi-Ablahan was held
prior to tonight’s meeting. Sheila Evans will exhibit photography December through February.
6. Scheduled and Upcoming 2022-2023 events:
a) Virtual Juried Art Show – Winter 2023. Prospectus was reviewed. Advertising to begin between 1/1
and 1/15. Submissions will go to Sheila Soyster and Melissa Hood for the show. Judges will vote on
winners. We will have an online exhibit allowing a “people’s choice” contest as well.
b) Fall Homegrown Festival – Great event. Need to enforce the rules re: unloading cars and car removal to
keep traffic flowing. The Chamber was notified about all the winners of the Pie Contest and the
Scarecrow contest to provide prizes.
c) PartY By The Sea – Spring of 2023. Tracy Jackson to Chair. Considering the week before Memorial Day
on a Thursday evening. Ideal time is 4pm to 9pm. Revisiting the Lobster Shanty as a venue. Lauren will
provide a list of sponsors and ticket list from the last canceled event. Arlene to reach out to Joylene for
any items she may have related to the past event.
d) Murals – Lauren Kurtz is finishing the design for the Jaeger Lumber wall. Murals will be on hold until
Spring. Mary Ellen is looking to team up with another artist to finish pleasure park with volunteer
painters in the Spring.
e) Artist’s registry – Judy discussed ideas with Melissa Hood and Lauren Kurtz on a format. Fees and
registration process being worked on.
f) Art Walk – Council approved this event. Scheduled for 4/29/2023
7. New Business:
g) Marketing – We need to market the Arts Committee events on the town website , calendar and quarterly
newsletter. We need to develop a budget for promotions, ie: boosting social media posts etc.
h) Crosswalk Painting: Revisit this. Potential location of River & Arnold Ave. Need to research the cost and
maintenance expenses.
8. Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:15
pm.
