Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes

May 8, 2023

 

The meeting was held at the Municipal Building Council Meeting Room, 416 New Jersey Ave., PPB and called to order by Vice Chair Kristi Monticello at 7:07 pm.

 

Attendees: The following members and volunteers were in attendance: Kristi Monticello, Lauren Godfarb Edwards, Larry Schwartz, Tracey Jackson, Judy Van Brunt, Dave Betten

 

Judy Van Brunt, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.

 

The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.

 

  1. Chairperson’s Report: no report

 

  1. Vice Chairperson’s Report: no report

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report: no report

 

  1. Secretary’s Report: Dave Betten made a motion to approve the Minutes from the 4/10 meeting and Tracey Jackson seconded the motion.  The minutes were unanimously approved as read.

 

  1. Update on Ongoing Initiatives:
    1. Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall –   Heather Brown’s work will be on exhibit through 5/30.  Meet the artist for 4/28 was canceled due to schedule conflicts.  The committee decided that meet the artists will only be held on Mondays prior to meetings as that is when members can be available.  Next artist is Laura Lutz, then Emily Gilman Beezley, then possibly Jim Cook and Lauren Kurt.  We’d like to put a sign in Town Hall possibly at the base of the stairs directing people upstairs to view the art.

 

  1. Lamp Post Banners: Need to promote this to Ocean Star and on Social.

 

 

  1. Upcoming events:
  2. Art Walk – We had 17 artists as a result of cancellations due to the weather. Next time we may want to have restaurants do a “culinary art” special.  Outside would be better; need to check if permits or town approval is needed.  It was suggested that we do this more frequently (quarterly).

 

  1. Virtual Juried Art Show –.Show was posted to the website and winners announced on 5/1. Winners were contacted and checks have been requested to pay them. May want to consider an “in person” show for next year but location is an issue.

 

  1. PartY By The Sea – May 18, 2023; Lobster Shanty. Temporary signs were approved and posted in stores.  Reaching out to Ocean Star to put on the Calendar.  Gaming license received.  Need to provide headcount to Lobster Shanty.  Schedule of events was reviewed and agreed upon.  Most of the vendors have confirmed; will follow-up.  Tracey and Kristi to map out the room to plan where all the vendors will set up.  Gifts Auction items/baskets  and descriptions are set.  Juried art show winners contacted for silent auction.  Planned for helpers for the night and supplies needed.  Tracey to request start up funds from C. Rheil.

 

 

 

  1. New Business:
  2. Several items from the Agenda were tabled until the next meeting to spend more time discussing the Party by the Sea Event details.

 

  1. Communication: We need to send correspondence to artists, vendors, etc, through info@paoinbeacharts.com with a request read receipt to ensure delivery

 

  1. Decorating Committee: New Committee was formed which will be a sub-committee of Arts.  Lots of interest.

 

 

Adjournment:  As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:38pm.
