Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes
March 14, 2022
The meeting was held at the Municipal Building Council Meeting Room, 416 New Jersey Ave., PPB and
called to order by Chairperson Lauren Goldfarb Edwards at 7:12 pm.
Attendees: The following members and volunteers were in attendance: Lauren Goldfarb Edwards, Judy
Van Brunt, Tracey Jackson, Larry Schwartz, Emily Meissner
Judy Van Brunt, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.
The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.
1) Chairperson’s Report: Lauren discussed that the committee is waiting for the Town Administrator
and Council’s procedures and by-laws for all committees. Lauren also mentioned the Town
Committee Fair to be held on 4/3. Regarding zoom meetings, Lauren informed those in attendance
that doing a hybrid in-person and zoom meeting is not encouraged by council/town hall

Vice Chairperson’s Report: nothing to report

Treasurer’s Report: nothing to report
4)
Secretary’s Report: A vote that the February minutes be approved was not taken as there was no
quorum.
5) Past Events and Recap:
a) Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall – A date of 4/11 for a reception was suggested.
Needs town approval. In need of artists to exhibit in April at the Library and May at the
Municipal Building.
b) ShamRock – Postponed to 3/20 due to weather. Had difficulty securing a person to do kids
crafts
c)
Little Free Library – Working with the Environmental Committee which chose library themed
design.
d)
Refresh Your Palate – First event to be held on 3/15 to make a Beach Badge Sign. 2 more events
to be scheduled for April and May.
e)
Melissa Hood March is for the Birds – online event. Tag @melissahoodart or @pointbeach arts
on social media with Bird Art. Use #MarchBirdArt to support and share with others.
f)
Mother’s Day Fundraising Event at Soule – May 1st. Event mostly sold out so we will not
advertise
6) Scheduled and Upcoming 2022 events:
a) 2022 Virtual Juried Art Show – Date to be determined. Still seeking a Lead. Sheila Soyster
offered to co-chair. Seeking another co-chair. Hoping to expand categories to include multiple
age groups. We will talk to Jim Inzero about the High School submissions he receives through
Stella E Luna.
b)
Online Poetry “Contest” – to recognize Poetry Month in April. Theme is What Does Peace Mean
to Me?

c) Online Photo “Contest” – to recognize Photography Month in May. Details will be sent towards
end of April
d)
2022 Beach Party Art Festival – Scheduled for 7/21; rain date 7/28. Planning is underway and
vendor applications will be requested
e) Fall Homegrown Festival – Scheduled for 10/23. Can use help on the day of the event.
f) PartY By The Sea – AKA the Gala. Liz Curtis stepped up to lead this event. No new updates.
g)
Murals – No locations right now. On hold.
h)
Painted Crosswalks – Need a proposal with cost and to determine which streets are town road
and which are county roads before proceeding.
i)
Painting of Guard Rails around Lakes – We need a project lead for the committee to decide to
take on the project.
7) New business:
a)
Molly Boards – Emily Meissner suggested a possible “food art” class with Molly Boards
b)
Little Point Book Shop – The Little Point Book Shop offered to hold kids classes as a fundraiser for
the committee.
c)
Seeking New Members – Seeking people willing to roll up their sleeves to coordinate, organize
and run programs and events. We will add a volunteer outreach section to all emails.
Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting
adjourned at 8:29 pm.
