Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes
March 13, 2023

The meeting was held at the Municipal Building Council Meeting Room, 416 New Jersey Ave., PPB and called to order by Vice Chair, Kristi Monticello at 7:11 pm.

Attendees: The following members and volunteers were in attendance: Kristi Monticello, Sheila Soyster, Larry Schwartz, Tracey Jackson, Judy Van Brunt, Arlene Testa

Judy Van Brunt, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.

The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.

1. Chairperson’s Report: no report

2. Vice Chairperson’s Report: no report

3. Treasurer’s Report: no report

4. Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the 2/13/2023 meeting were not yet available and will be sent out for an email vote along with the minutes from this meeting.

5. Past Events and Recap:
a. Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall – Meet the Artist with Sheila Evans photography will be held March 22nd @ 6pm. Heather Brown to display April 2 through May 31. Seeking more artists
b. Murals – Murals will be on hold until Spring. Lauren Kurtz is doing the specs for a mural on the Jaeger Lumber Bldg. The Boatyard is also looking to have a mural done.
c. Artist’s registry – On hold. Need technical assistance for this.

6. Upcoming events:
a) Virtual Juried Art Show – Deadline for submissions is being extended to 3/31/2023. To date, 39 artists have submitted multiple pieces. Artist James Toogood will be the judge.
b) PartY By The Sea – May 18, 2023; Lobster Shanty. Ticket sales are now live. Need to promote this event. Discovered we need an RFP for sponsorships. Looking to see if we can secure a grant through the Fischer Family Fund. Arlene will provide information on this.
c) Art Walk – Scheduled for 4/29/2023. Seeking artists to match up with businesses.

7. New Business:
a) Light Post Banners in Town: Council approached the committee to secure artwork for the light posts in town. We asked active volunteers and members, Sheila Soyster, Melissa Hood and Lauren Kurtz to submit samples. The art has been approved and banners will be going up this spring. We hope to open this up to other artists for next year.
b) New Ideas: Arlene Testa suggested several ideas to consider. We need volunteers to make these happen:
● team up with library for a kids art event
● art for a cause (cancer awareness, domestic violence awareness
● Garden tour with artists and a symphony at the bandshell
● Sand castle event
● Art through dance
● Chocolate art

8. Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 9:12pm.
