Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes

July 13, 2020

 

The meeting was held virtually via Zoom and was called to order at 7:00 by Chairperson Lauren Goldfarb-Edwards.

 

Laurie Vicari, Secretary, was absent;  Lauren Goldfarb, Co Chairperson, recorded the minutes of the meeting.

 

The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.

 

 

Lauren discussed filling the role of the Treasurer.  Will circulate the job description to see if anyone is willing to step up or know anyone who would be great.

 

Carmelina reported on her composition class, 7 registered and 3 attended.

Next class will be on Lightroom photography website focused on how to export photos in correct sizes for social media and printing. Will discuss details with Kristi

Wants to hold a photography contest.  Not printing the calendar so maybe newsletter for winner?  Will discuss with Christopher

 

Jim updated that the murals at Stella Luna and gallery started today.  Needs a Certificate of Liability for the metal working.  Also mentioned the Great Mural on Jaeger Lumber, large cracks need to be filled and need to figure out who is responsible, the artist or a contract.  Tim mentioned he recently saw the building and it looked like some were filled in.  Lauren will coordinate with Arlene and town on Cert. of Liability and United Rentals needs for scissor lift. (Lauren emailed Arlene)

 

Discussed Library Group read along. James reached out to Matt at Red Library and Kim mentioned speaking with Point Bookstore to see if she’s interested.  Sonya offered back room at Vintage Van Goughs in case the library wasn’t able to be used.

 

“What inspires you” blog discussion.  Good discussion and interest.  Lauren to follow up with Christopher on mechanics and process.  James had lots of ideas on content.  We discussed it should have the same branding, logo, but have our own ideas on what we think is art, food, music, gardening, etc.  (Lauren reached out to Christopher on Slack)

 

Tim has someone from travel/surf community to bring into arts committee, more to come as he schedules a follow up dinner.  Recently came back to town and wants to get involved.

 

Sonya and Kim mentioned they have snowmen for storage.  Lauren to ask Arlene if Town Hall is open for basement access.  (Done)
