Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes
July 11, 2022
The meeting was held at the Municipal Building Council Meeting Room, 416 New Jersey Ave., PPB and called to
order by Vice Chairperson Kristi Monticello at 7:05 pm.
Attendees: The following members and volunteers were in attendance: Kristi Monticello, Judy Van Brunt, Dani
Roling, Lauren Kurtz, Tracy Jackson,, Larry Schwartz, James Dalton
Judy Van Brunt, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.
The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.
1) Chairperson’s Report: none
2) Vice Chairperson’s Report: We need more volunteers who can execute and follow through on events.
Explained how we’d like to differentiate between voting members and volunteers.
3)
Treasurer’s Report: Position is vacant; we need a volunteer
4)
Secretary’s Report: A vote that the February, March and April and May minutes to be approved was not
taken as there was no quorum. Reminder that there was no meeting in June.
5) Past Events and Recap:
a) Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall – Great article in the Ocean Star about our current featured
artists. Bob Como’s work is on display through August. Joan Tozzi Ablahani will exhibit at Municipal
Bldg. for September through November; Sheila Evans will exhibit December through February.
b)
Beach pARTy – looking for volunteers for the day of event. There is a waitlist for vendors. Great
response! Lauren Kurtz volunteered to work the Arts Committee table and do a kids craft.
6) Scheduled and Upcoming 2022 events:
a) Virtual Juried Art Show – Winter 2023. Committee will provide Melissa Hood and Sheila Soyster with
the detailed instructions and both will co-chair this event.
b) Fall Homegrown Festival – Chairperson needed. Seeking a Chair person
c) PartY By The Sea – Spring of 2023. Tracy Jackson to chair this event.
d)
Murals – Lauren will chair; need businesses to participate.
e)
Social Media – Lauren Kurtz offered to help with our social media needs
f)
Artist’s registry – Work in progress. Lauren Kurtz suggested a social media takeover for a week at a time
where artists can blast their works.
7) New business:
a)
Seeking New Members – Seeking people willing to roll up their sleeves to coordinate, organize and run
programs and events. We will add a volunteer outreach section to all emails.
b)
Art Walk – Ideas were discussed and preliminary plans for a future Art Walk in downtown.
Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:07
pm.
