5. Update on Ongoing Initiatives:
a. Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall – Laura Lutz is the current featured artist through the end of August. We were unable to find a mutually agreeable time for a meet the artist event. Emily Gilman Beezley will install her art at the beginning of Sept. We will hold a meet the artist event prior to the October meeting. Other artists for 2023 are possibly Jim Cook and Lauren Kurt. Penny suggested the artist Albert Verose and offered to contact him.
b. Murals: The Jaeger Lumber mural should start in the next couple of weeks and take a month to complete.
c. Tech Help – Carly Reihl is helping us with our tech and website. Possible set up Artist Directory.
6. Upcoming events:
a) PartY By The Sea – Recap provided by Tracey Jackson. Overall a big success with lots of positive feedback from artists and attendees. We need to be sure to check the school calendars to avoid conflicts. The proceeds were discussed but didn’t include sales done online.
b) Kids Art Classes – Starting 7/10/2023. Numbers were not as high as we hoped but good for a new program.
c) Decorating Committee – Still looking for starfish and shells
d) Concert Series and Battle of the Bands – Assisting Rec with these initiatives. Battle of the Bands was a great event. Shared the dates of the summer concerts
e) Sandcastle Contest – Arlene Testat to lead. Looking at a September date, location, sign-up, judges and prizes.
7. New Business:
a) Grounds for Sculpture Trip – Looking into a group rate/senior rate. Can HS provide buses? Consider a fall date? Possibly do a smaller local gallery (Malpass)
b) Adult Art Classes – Classes being planned by Patty Micca Lowe for the fall
c) Event at Aquarium – Penny Davies suggested an event of some type at the Aquarium. Will consider that as a venue if feasible.
d) Homegrown – Do we have the help to run this event in October? Definitely want to do the Scarecrow Contest.
e) Holiday Time – need to check with Rec and the Chamber to coordinate Arts and Town Wide events.
f) Arts Committee description on town website – Judy VanBrunt to check with Eileen Farrell or Janet Mutter to change the description on the town website and add correct information.
Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting adjourned at 8:40pm.
