committee t-shirt sales and the #PointmetotheBeach magnet sales which will be sold at all town
events and are available for sale at Barefoot Realty and Bam Bam Burger Co.
2) Vice Chairperson’s Report: nothing to report

4)
Secretary’s Report: Judy reminded all members that we are seeking artists to display works in the
spring at the Point Beach Library and the Municipal Building. Judy asked that minutes of the January
meeting be approved as read and members approved as such.
5) Past Events and Recap:
a) Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall – Artwork by Sheila Soyster and Pauline Mickle is on
display now at the Municipal Building. A date for a reception is being discussed. The committee
has promoted the exhibit by the Manasquan River Group of Artists at the Point Beach Library
and encourages members to check out both displays. In need of artists to exhibit in April at the
Library and May at the Municipal Building.
b)
#POINTmetotheBEACH Magnet Sales – As mentioned by Chairperson, magnets are being sold at
all town wide events and at Barefoot Realty and Bam Bam Burger Co.
c)
Little Free Library – Working with the Environmental Committee, the Arts Committee submitted
design ideas (Seahorse and Mini Little Red Library). The Environmental Committee chose the
library theme. Reaching out to artists for a sketch.
d)
Tile Fundraiser – On Hold.
6) Scheduled and Upcoming 2022 events:
a) ShamRock – Multi-Committee Event to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day to be held on Saturday,
3/12/2022 from 12pm-4pm. Tim Kelly will do a kid’s craft; Sonia Fisher may provide a kids
project as well. Plans are well underway!
b) 2022 Virtual Juried Art Show – Date to be determined. Still seeking a Lead. Sheila Soyster and
Judy Van Brunt will help run the event. Lauren will reach out to Lisa Lewis, Sheila Soyster and
Laurie on ideas and how to expand categories to include multiple age groups. We will talk to Jim
Inzero about the High School submissions he receives through Stella E Luna.

c) 2022 Beach Party Art Festival – Scheduled for 7/21; rain date 7/28. Kristi is teaming up with
Melissa Hood to do mini events leading up to the Beach Party. Logistics and street access need
to be discussed with Council and Police Chief.
d) Fall Homegrown Festival – Scheduled for 10/23. Will follow the same logistical plan as Beach
Party. Can use help on the day of the event.
e) PartY By The Sea – AKA the Gala. Lisa Curtis stepped up to lead this event. The Committee
would like to have the event in fall of 2022 if possible (avoiding 10/21 as the Education
Foundation event is that date). Considering the new BoatYard Restaurant as the venue. Ideas
included a selfie station, selling original canvas paintings similar to what was done at Sea Hear
Now. Possibly a live art auction.
f)
Murals – No locations right now. On hold.
g)
Refresh Your Palate – 3 dates for fundraising events being planned. First event is 3/15 with a
Beach Badge project. Max 20 people. Cost is non-refundable but can be applied to another
class. Information with registration to be emailed and promoted on social media in the next
week. Second and third events will be held in April and May.
h) Always seeking new active members!
7) New business:
a)
Poetry Contest – to recognize Poetry Month in April. Details forthcoming.
b)
Photo Contest – to recognize Photography Month in May. Details forthcoming.
c)
Painted Crosswalks – An idea was submitted to Councilwoman Arlene Testa to have fun painted
crosswalks throughout town. Arlene is working with the Town Engineer, Business Administrator
and Code Enforcement on the feasibility. May only be done on town roads not county roads.
This would need to be funded from the Committee budget with a maintenance fund to keep the
paint in good shape. The Police Chief would also need to determine the best time of day to close
the road for work to be done. Kim Allen will do some research to see what/how Asbury Park has
handled this.
d)
Painting of Guard Rails around Lakes – An idea was suggested to have the Arts Committee paint
the metal guardrails around some of the town’s lakes. Tim Allen to go look at the various spots
and report back for the committee to decide to take on the project.
Would need a project lead.
e) Zoom and in-person Meetings – Tracey Jackson suggested that we conduct future meetings
in-person AND on Zoom to increase participation and perhaps get more volunteers. We will plan
for the March meeting.
f)
Signature Project Event – Judy Van Brunt discussed the possibility of hosting a “show” of the
Signature Project (
https://www.signatureproject.com/) as a fundraiser. Would need to be held
in an auditorium and charge admission. The committee will try to preview this show and
determine interest level.
g)
Seeking New Members – Seeking people willing to roll up their sleeves to coordinate, organize
and run programs and events. Considering a membership drive through Facebook. Town
Committee Fair.
Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting
adjourned at 8:32 pm.
