Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes
April 11, 2022
The meeting was held at the Municipal Building Council Meeting Room, 416 New Jersey Ave., PPB and
called to order by Vice Chairperson Kristi Monticello at 7:17 pm.
Attendees: The following members and volunteers were in attendance: Kristi Monticello, Judy Van Brunt,
Arlene Testa, Sheila Soyster, Larry Schwartz, Molly Kastner
Judy Van Brunt, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.
The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.
1) Chairperson’s Report: No report; Lauren on vacation
2) Vice Chairperson’s Report: Committee is seeking a new Treasurer.
3) Treasurer’s Report: current balance is $31,869 (much left and earmarked for “Gala”)
4) Secretary’s Report: A vote that the February and March minutes to be approved was not taken as
there was no quorum.
5) Past Events and Recap:
a) Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall – Meet the Artist event scheduled for 5/9 5:30 pm at
Municipal Building. Next Artist is Bob Como, then Joan Tozzi Ablahani will exhibit in Library for
June and at Municipal Bldg. for September
b) Little Free Library – The Environmental Committee is doing this project with Antrim students.
c) Refresh Your Palate – 2 more events to be scheduled and we will share details
d) Online Poetry Month Celebration – Online submissions being accepted through 4/30 with the
theme: What Peace Means to Me”.
e) Online Photography Appreciation Month – Hit Us With Your Best Shot. Send in your photos for
display on social media. Open to anyone.
6) Scheduled and Upcoming 2022 events:
a) 2022 Virtual Juried Art Show – Date to be determined. Still seeking a Lead. This won’t happen
without a chairperson. May postpone until Winter. Sheila Soyster offered to co-chair. Melissa
Hood offered to help. Hoping to expand categories to include multiple age groups.
b) Beach Party Art Festival – Scheduled for 7/21; rain date 7/28. Vendor submissions accepted
through mid May. Lots of interest!
c) Fall Homegrown Festival – Seeking a Chair person; Molly Kastner will help.
d) PartY By The Sea – May need a new chairperson; No new updates.
e) Murals – Need a new Chairperson.
f) Painted Crosswalks – On hold; Need more volunteers
g) Painting of Guard Rails around Lakes – On hold; need more volunteers
h) By-laws – Reviewing guidelines provided by Township Committee
7) New business:
a) Seeking New Members – Seeking people willing to roll up their sleeves to coordinate, organize
and run programs and events. We will add a volunteer outreach section to all emails.
b) Social Media – Fees were raised significantly. We are seeking a new vendor as of 5/1.
Adjournment: As there was no further New Business or Questions to discuss, the meeting
adjourned at 8:25 pm.
