Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes

April 10, 2023

 

The meeting was held at the Municipal Building Council Meeting Room, 416 New Jersey Ave., PPB and called to order by Secretary, Judy VanBrunt, at 7:10 pm.

 

Attendees: The following members and volunteers were in attendance: Kristi Monticello, Larry Schwartz, Tracey Jackson, Judy Van Brunt, Arlene Testa, Dave Betten

 

Judy Van Brunt, Secretary, recorded the minutes of the meeting.

 

The Agenda attached as Exhibit A was presented as the format for the meeting.

 

  1. Chairperson’s Report: no report

 

  1. Vice Chairperson’s Report: no report

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report: Arlene Testa made a plea to find a treasurer. Things are much easier with Municipay.  The committee was granted the $5K funding that was requested from the town.

 

  1. Secretary’s Report: Minutes from the 2/13/2023  and 3/13/2023 meetings voted on via email and were approved as read.

 

  1. Past Events and Recap:
    1. Spotlight Artists at Library and Town Hall –   Kristi reported that the Meet the Artist event on 4/22 was a nice event.  Small crowd but the Artist was very appreciative.  Heather Brown’s art is currently on Exhibit.  Seeking more artists

 

  1. Upcoming events:
  2. Virtual Juried Art Show –.All submissions are in. We had  183 pieces submitted; of that 12 were High School Student’s work.  Artist James Toogood will be the judge.  Winners will be announced on 5/1. 
  3. PartY By The Sea – May 18, 2023; Lobster Shanty. Need to promote this event.  Ticket sales are sluggish. Reaching out to people who purchased in 2020 to encourage them to attend,  Tracey to confirm with all artists and vendors.  We will reach out to C. Trancone for flyers to be posted.  Schedule of performers was planned.  Tracey was checking on the status for the raffle license.  Looking to add to the events section of the Ocean Star.
  4. Art Walk – Scheduled for 4/29/2023. Artists are being matched with businesses.  A communication will be sent to all with the new waiver form.  We have been given approval by the town to post signs in store windows prior to the event.  Arlene will ask Spa Bella to participate. A write up with photos should be done after the event.

 

  1. New Business:
  2. Light Post Banners in Town:   Banners were completed and DPW to install them.  We plan to do some marketing of this
  3. Teaming up with the rec department to run Battle of the Bands and the summer concert series.
