Point Beach Arts Committee Meeting Minutes

The meeting was held in the office of Borough Hall and was called to order at 7:00 by Chairwoman, Gerrie Vergona.   
Attendees: The following members were in attendance:  Paul Kanitra, Gerrie Vergona, Cathy Jamison, James  Dalton, Marisa Gray, Kristi Monticello, Kim Allen, Jacqueline DiPasquale, Joylene Rock, Laura DiPasquale, Laurie Vicari and Kim Allen, Christopher Cochran( latter two of which are volunteers)
Laurie Vicari, Secretary was in attendance and recorded the minutes of the meeting.

  1. General Topics:

Project approach: Gerrie advised everyone all members and volunteers will participate in proposed and planned projects.  So, if a particular project falls within a specific Sub-Committee, all  other Sub Committee members and volunteers will also assist in planning those events. 
Snowman Project: Gerrie advised that this project was not moving forward.   
Flash Mob: Kristi will be coordinating the Flash Mob dance for the PPB Christmas Tree lighting ceremony.
MuralsJim Inzero is coordinating with several PPB building owners as well as artists for the installation of murals on Town buildings.  The project is expected to start in Spring 2019.  Paul Kanitra will look into drafting a legal agreement for between the building owner and the Arts Committee for the mural installation. 
ACTION ITEM:  Jim will continue to work the Mural project and Paul will work on the legal agreements for the mural installation. 
Photography Classes:   Gerrie asked Paul to ascertain if the Municipal Building could be added as a venue site for Photograph classes.  She advised that the classes would be well attended and that at the very least if two days each month  (preferably Friday) could be reserved for class time. 
ACTION ITEM:  Paul will look into the ability to use the Municipal Building for Photography Classes.   
Grants Application:  Marisa submitted 2 applications in October.  No responses as of yet.

  1. Other Topics Discussed:

Fund Raiser Gala:  The Gala date has been scheduled for Saturday, March 30, 2019.  The event will be held at the White Sands and they have stepped up to donate the venue and food.  Joylene will be meeting with them next week to nail down some details.   The Committee agreed that a ticket price of $65 per person will be charged to attend.  Paul will determine if the charge is tax deductible.  Chris Cochran will work on lighting and IT assists for event.  James and Mike will work on music.  Jim will work on artist participation.  Barbara will assist with fundraising and auction.  Cathy will work on a program booklet.   The Committee will continue to work on ideas for the Gala, i.e., underwater photos, etc. 
ACTION ITEM:  Committee members will discuss more details of the Gala planning at the next meeting. Paul will advise if the ticket charge is tax deductible.

The next meeting will be held on Monday, December 17 at 7:00 pm in Borough Hall
