FLAG SALUTE, INVOCATION

PUBLIC HEARING:  ABC License # 1525-33-014-004 – Martell’s Tiki Bar Inc., T/A Martell’s Tiki Bar and Jake’s Crab House, 308-312 Boardwalk, Point Pleasant Beach, NJ 08742

Mayor Kanitra: an important exercise for Council –beach and Boardwalk are top issue for residents – have seen correlation in the data for larger crowds on Sundays & Mondays – this afforded us to have a positive conversation with Martell’s to raise concerns on the Borough’s behalf and open a good dialogue – are on same page with Jenkinson’s as well – last week, he, Attorney Riordan and Chief Michigan met with Dave & Scott Bassinder – they were receptive – Martell’s agreed to have additional security on weekends and Mondays – will work with FO Martin on new fire capacity numbers for different areas within Martell’s – they decided not to have DJs on the beach anymore – keeping problems confined to the beach side and private property – with those concessions and the fact that they seem to be on the same page as us, has no reservations about the liquor licenses – great to know we have 2 partners in Jenkinson’s and Martell’s this year – everything is up to be evaluated in the future – feels positive about this summer (Councilman Cortes: asked if they’re ok with no seating or dining on the Boardwalk, like they fought for years ago: Attorney Riordan: that was not part of the discussion – 2 different things – their property begins parallel to Jenkinson’s, but their building is set back, so they have a bit of what looks like Boardwalk, but it’s not; Councilman Cortes: will see tables and chairs out; Attorney Riordan: where they’ve always been, yes) opened the public hearing, with no member of the public wishing to be heard.

Motion by Councilman Cortes to close the public hearing and approve the item listed below, as written, was seconded by Councilman Vitale and carried by roll call vote.
