Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Beautification Committee Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by Gary Mecca
The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Penny Mecca, Beth Cox, Barbara Russell, Donna Palsi, Angela Fioretti, Susie Carey, Maureen Kale. Dorothy Hadley, Sandy Pasola. Mary Lynn Richings, Barbara Favato, Andy Cortes
Minutes – Sandy Pasola moved and Dorothy Hadley seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously
Welcome to new member Barbara Favato
Sprinkler systems – Will be shut down end of October, except for Sandy’s Point due to garden redo.
Gary to meet with Bay Head Landscaping hear about design for River Ave Garden
Barrels – Adopt a spot barrel at Pleasure Park was removed.
Gary explained that Sherwin Williams to provide and maintain their own barrel.
Christmas greens to be purchased through Jacqui Glass at the Purple Iris, will need two more bundles than last year. Limit spending to $400.
Scarecrow contest – Setup date Friday Oct 20, vote for winners Oct 24. Participation mostly classes at Antrim. Budgeted $500 for prizes
Flags – Large flags need to be rolled up at borough yard and transported to borough hall. Angela and Jacqui Reid volunteered, and Andy offered his van for transportation.
Andy offered to take down all the little flags from light posts. Mayor to drive DPW bucket truck.
Gary to update member lists
Lunch for DPW will be put off as workers are too busy per John.
Bows – More Bows needed to be made for Borough Hall and Gazebo. Jacqui Glass will make. We have sufficient ribbon for this already
Flower order for next year – Mary Steiner and Liz Hahner to take over doing flower order. Will be contacting vendors to who can satisfy cost and delivery requirements. Members need to review what they had and possible changes for planning what is needed. Penny suggested two barrel designs instead of one.
Andy to look into what trees will be removed or trimmed at Sandy’s Point, Bay Ave, and by Point Pleasant Beach Diner
It was noted it would be nice if prisoners could be used twice per year to do weeding and other cleanup activities
Need to think about when Christmas baking is to be done for DPW, and when will we have the Christmas party
