Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Minutes from the Sep 24, 2019
Beautification Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 7:10 PM by Gary Mecca
The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Mary Lynn Ritchings, Sandy Pasola, Barbara Favato, Maryann Ellsworth, Beth Cox Andy Cortes
Minutes – Sandy Pasola moved and Mary Lynn Ritchings seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously
Gardens – Water department to check out valves for those that may be rusty and need replacement. Water will be turned off by Oct 18. Some of the sprinkler heads at borough hall are not working.
Penny and Gary mulched part of the garden at the Welcome sign. Need to two bushes and two rose bushes to replace deceased items. Two volunteers are needed to takeover this spot for next year.
Bird Sanctuary sign refurb Sandy contacted Robertson signs about peeling paint due to water sprinkler. He will be checking Bay Head entrance sign also for price for both.
Holiday decorations – Andy made replacement reindeer parts and need to have them painted by volunteers. Need an inventory taken of all parts. New lighted snow flakes that town purchased will be mounted above the cross arms of the lights and not interfere with the wreaths. Andy will bring one into the next meeting for show and tell. Andy will put Chrisrmas swag across Bay Ave.
Sandy and Mary to do Scarecrow contest. Oct 18 will be setup day for Scare Crow contest, will be voting at the Oct 22 meeting. Categories will be scary, patriotic, recycle, original, most creative, New Jersey pride. Emails to be sent to all members before next meeting to remind them of the categories.
Mary contacted DPW and large flags have been taken down. Flags need to be disassembled and needs for replacement parts determined. DPW will be asked about storing the poles while boro hall basement setup is being determined.
Discussion was held about skate board park and potential for vandalism at the Gazebo. Andy to check about security cameras still working at the Gazebo and provides good visibility.
Maryann stated there were vines and weeds around town hall that should be addressed. Andy made note.
Gazebo still needs painting, Andy looking for local church groups willing to volunteer to do it.
