Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Minutes from the Oct 22, 2019
Beautification Meeting
The meeting was called to order at 7:08 PM by Gary Mecca
The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Sandy Pasola, Penny Mecca, Barbara Favato, Sue Dietz
Minutes – Sue Dietz moved and Barbara Favato seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously
Gardens – Welcome sign plants purchased at 50% plantings, perennials, seven plants purchased and planted.
Gazebo – tree is blocking security camera. Water department did not turn off sprinklers yet.
Barrels – Maryann replaced one of Sandy’s barrels that had been destroyed by a vehicle. Flowers need to be removed from barrels in the next couple of weeks to get ready for the greens.
Sign Quotes were received from Thompson sign company $999 for bird sanctuary and $950 for sign coming from Bay Head. Will see if the town will pay for both if not will do bird sanctuary first.
Holiday Decorations – Greens coming in Nov 12. Need to wait and see about garlands and wreaths based on the new snowflake mountings. Volunteers still needed to paint newly cut reindeer pieces. Gary to check with Rotary about help putting up garlands Nov 20, 21, 22
Scarecrow contest winners voted on. Winners selected in Patriotic, Original, Creative, Scary, NJ Pride, Committee Favorite categories.
Flowers for next year. Discussion was held for what the barrels should have. Suggested small arborvitaes with Lantanas surrounding or small Hibiscus with lantanas and vincas surrounding.
Budget – pretty well spent this year’s money, would hope more would be forthcoming from the town
After much discussion, next meeting will be Nov 19 due to Thanksgiving holiday.
Baking for DPW and Christmas Party need to be discussed at next meeting
