Beautification Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM by Gary Mecca
The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Penny Mecca, Beth Cox, Donna Palsi, Angela Fioretti, Sandy Pasola.. Mary Lynn Richings, Jacqui Reid, Barbara Russell, Sue Dietz
Minutes – Mary Lynn Ritchings moved and Jacqui Reid seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously
Scarecrow Contest – Treats and prizes were awarded to ten classes. Received thank you from the art club
Sandy’s Point – Big Tree was taken down and there has been concerns from the neighbors about selecting a new tree. Gary to advise them that shade tree is the party they should be talking to as beatification is not responsible for tree selection
Discussion to get rid of the lighthouse as it is too small for the area. Seemed to be a consensis. Gary to talk to Bay Head Landscaping.
Spring Bulbs were planted at the Gazebo and Butterfly Garden
Broadway Garden needs to be cleaned out. Jacqui Reid to send out email to get small crew together to get it done.
Cell tower discussion tabled as Elia wasn’t there with the letter
Christmas Party will be Thursday Dec 7 6:30pm, guests included at Dave’s house. Notify Mary S as to what you are bringing
DPW lunch Dec 7 from Stop and Shop. Jacqui Reid coordinating
Holiday baking for DPW with baked goods to be dropped off at Dave’s Sunday Dec 17 by 4:00pm.
Christmas – Four crews were used to put up the garland. Found garland needs to be replaced and upgrade the garland to look fuller. Sandy to check into options including doubling up. Can spend up to $100 if she finds acceptable improvements.
More red ribbon is needed for barrels and wreaths for next year. Mary Steiner to spend up to $80 for more
Flower order for next year – Decision made to purchase Broadway barrels, Gazebo and Dave Cavagnaro areas from Seemar Gardens with balance of the flowers to be obtained from Barlow’s. Orders to be placed with the vendors in January with delivery for after Mother’s Day in May
Motion made by Dave and seconded by Angela to purchase six liners for barrels on Broadway to reduce water seepage.
