Beautification Committee Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM by Gary Mecca
The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Penny Mecca,
Beth Cox, Angela Fioretti, Sandy Pasola.. Mary Lynn Richings, Jacqui Reid, Barbara Russell, Sue Dietz,
Susie Carey, Jacqui Glass, Maureen Kale, Cheryl Manzo, Kathy Bixby, MJ Rossilli-Mitchell, Andy Cortez
Minutes – Jacqui Reid moved and Mary Lynn Ritchings seconded approval of last meetings minutes.
Approved unanimously
Elections held with no nominations from the floor so Co Chairs Gary and Jacqui re-elected.
All meetings to be held on the fourth Tuesday of the month except for April when meeting will be held
Monday April 16.
Gary requested beautification funding from the town but won’t be available until town budget is
introduced.
Gary to call DPW about taking greens out of the barrels/
Marie Phister memorial tree to be placed at Sandy’s Point. Gary and Sandy to meet with Ann Lightburn
about placement. Red Maple and Willow Oak were suggested and decision was for the Red Maple, Cap
of $350 to purchase tree. Also talked about plaque to accompany tree in the future.
Sandy’s Point – Decided that Shade tree has responsibility for the back portion of the point and
beatification is responsible from the Christmas tree forward.
Penny made presentation showing proposed change to Christmas garlands, four per pole with paired
garlands. Jacqui Reid to coordinate with Barbara Russell about using Women’s club to do prep work in
March or April.
Penny also presented change for wreaths with one of the old small wreaths with two larger wreaths and
changes to the ribbon to enhance appearance. Jacqui Glass to look into upgraded ribbon.
Flags – Little Flags – Andy to talk to Joe Leone about possible donation of funds for getting cloth flags like
he had outside his store.
Big Flags –Barbara to chair co-ordinating getting repair and assembly of this year’s flags
Flower orders to Seemar Gardens and Barlow’s in January. Need to follow up with purchase orders with
finalized prices.
New members introduced, MJ Rosilli-Mitchell and Kathy Bixby. Accepted Susie Carey resignation.
Dave thanked everyone for baking cookies for DPW. Also suggested repainting the reindeer for next year
Andy said town sent letters to Henesseys and Richmond Mobil about repairing their barrels or DPW will
remove. Gazebo steps need to be repaired but this cannot be done until the weather permits.
Gary requested from Andy that request to the county for prisoners to weed the town be done early
Little Silver Lake dredging project should be completed by the boat parade
