Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Beautification Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Gary Mecca
The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Penny Mecca,
Beth Cox Sandy Pasola, Dorothy Hadley, Elia Desruisseaux, Maureen Kale, Barbara Russell, MJ

Minutes – Sandy moved and Dave seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously
Flower order – Thoughts for next year were discussed. May not need the Lantanas as the Vincas
overwhelmed them and the larger Mandavilla are preferred. Penny suggested that members bring in
pictures of possible suggestions for the barrels. Need to pick a date in September to meet with Andrew
Seemar and invite committee to meet with him to discuss ideas.
Adopt a spot barrels by Sherwin Williams were never done..
Large Flags – Rotary club has again donated $250 to be used for flags. More flag hardware is needed.
Some of new flags appear to be faded on one side. Gary will discuss with supplier if reordering. Penny
suggested investigating getting American made flags. Elia requested that either Gary or Jacqui attend a
Rotary Club meeting to speak about the committee activities. Gary to ask DPW to take down flags as they
are showing the worst for wear.
Sandy’s Point – Bay Head Landscaping installed landscaping fabric and different plants, sprinklers
adjusted and Penny and Gary mulched the beds. Sandy asked for another volunteer to help with the
garden. Gary still helping shade tree with watering their plantings.
Scarecrow contest $
500 has been budgeted for prizes, set up is Oct 19, voting at the Oct 23 meeting.
Elia made a suggestion to get the town involved. She would run it with someone else’s help. Committee
had manpower concerns
Dave suggested that beautification give and award at the council meeting in recognition of their work at
Sandy’s Point. Gary will do.
Sandy stated that the benches by Life and the Gazebo have a moldy looking growth and need to be
cleaned off, Gary to contact Paul Kinitra about situation.
