Beautification Meeting
   
The meeting was called to order at 7:06 PM by Gary Mecca
 
The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Sue Dietz,   Angela Fioretti, Mary Lynn Ritchings,  Sandy Pasola, Jacqui Glass, Dorothy Hadley, MJ Mitchell, Elia Desruisseaux,  Andy Cortes
 
Minutes – Sue Dietz moved and Sandy Pasola seconded approval of last meetings minutes.  Approved unanimously
 
Barrels – all seem to look good, all present felt flowers were good. Barrel on SE corner of Broadway and Chicago was destroyed by car accident on July 11. Gary asked Andy to check with police about getting compensated.
 
Gardens – Boat needs three people to manage all maintenance. Welcome Sign needs at least two people to work, will also need two evergreen replacements in the fall. Linda Bottrell helped Sandy with weeding her point
 
Town to send letters to merchants where empty tree spot needs weeding and maintenance.
 
Gary in contact with Chris Riehl on several issues. Lake Louise sign at Niblick and Boston has been found. Cost estimate is needed to rehab that garden spot. Andy to check on what plans there are to complete the work.  All sprinkler systems for butterfly garden now working.
 
Town hall basement waterproofing is allegedly finished. Gary to send letter asking where we can store our materials.
 
Environmental committee to plant and maintain new planter being put on the side of borough hall.
 
Bird Sanctuary sign refurb  Sandy to contact original company. Mary to go down the basement to get the information.
 
Holiday decorations – Angela to ask Jacqui Reed if the garlands can be rechecked in her garage. Jacqui and her will check asking for help if necessary. Dave said that there should be enough lights for Gazebo.
Andy to cut out reindeer pieces, others will need to paint when complete. Jacqui Glass to check out price of greens and reorder from her vendor. Elia said Rotary could possibly help with Christmas setup but needs some lead time. Town has purchased new snowflakes that will be mounted on the light poles. Andy to find out what this means in terms of how we address garlands, wreaths, etc
 
Discussion on funding and decided to use town money before using reserves
 
Sandy and Mary to do Scarecrow contest. Oct 18 will be setup day for Scare Crow contest, will be voting at the Oct 22 meeting.
 
Mary to contact DPW about taking down the large flags
 
Sympathy cards to be sent to two committee members for family members passing.
