Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Beautification Meeting Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Gary Mecca
The following members were in attendance Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Penny Mecca, Beth Cox, Jacqui Reid, Barbara Russell, Donna Palsi, Angela Fioretti, Susie Carey, Sue Dietz, Andy Cortes
Minutes – Penny Mecca moved and Donna Palsi seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously
Thank you from Jacqui Reid to Penny, Gary, and Mary Lynn for garden help
Sprinkler systems – New company is doing well, but owners of garden spots need to tell Gary is there are any issues
Gardens – Large ones need at least two people to weed and mulch. Possibly set up group weeding time? Possibly reach out to local organizations (i.e. scouts, NHS, etc) to get community service hours for helping? Possibly put in paper a community weeding day?
Bay Head Landscaping to present design for River Ave Garden after end of summer to plan for what we want in the future. Money has been budgeted for this so no new expense to be incurred
Barrels – Sherwin Williams wants to adopt a barrel in front of store at Atlantic and Rt 35 South. They would provide barrel and take care of everything else.
Scarecrow contest – Setup date Friday Oct 20, vote for winners Oct 24. No commercial town wide contest for businesses due to lack of interest shown last year.
Flags – Will again ask Women’s Club to use their facility to assemble the large flags, as it works out well.
Gary to order the small flags on line now in preparation for next year.
Budget – Discussed funds earmarked for projects with no additional requirements identified at this time.
Lunch for DPW will be put off until Sept as workers are too busy with end of summer requirements.
Flower order for next year, will be entertaining new vendor and discussing in September
Fertilizer needs will be reviewed in January for next year’s requirements.
