Beautification Meeting Minutes

The meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by Gary Mecca

The following members were in attendance: Mary Steiner, Dave Cavagnaro, Gary Mecca, Penny Mecca, Angela Fioretti, Jacqui Reid, Barbara Russell, Sue Dietz, Jacqui Glass, Maureen Kale, Cheryl Manzo, Kathy Bixby, MJ Rossilli-Mitchell, Andy Cortez

Minutes – Penny moved and Jacqui Reid seconded approval of last meetings minutes. Approved unanimously

Gary indicated we had three new members

Barrels – Review of assignments. Gary spoke to Shermain-Wlliams and insurance agency about them purchasing their own barrels. Angela to talk to them about planting methods. Barlows indicated that Mandevillas need to be fed every two to three weeks.

Earth Day – Comcast is sending nine people to assist in mulching the butterfly garden, welcome sign and bird sanctuary. Mulch to be dropped off at the sites on Friday and Ocean Star to provide newspapers for mulching. Work to start Saturday at 8:30am meeting at Perks.

Garden Spots – DPW to turn on water at water pits. Patty Kyle from town hall to speak to sprinkler people about turning on the sprinklers. If any problems after they are turned on contact Gary.

Gary to buy more granular fertilizer from Bains hardware.

Barrels should be checked for needing additional topsoil which is available in back of borough yard.

Flags – Large flag repairs meet Wednesday at 2:00pm at borough hall to take flags to Women’s club, meet there at 6:00pm to mount and organize. On Thursday 9:00am flags to be taken to DPW. Small flags – Seventy two ordered from Dollar Tree. Discussion on needing teams for hanging small flags using ladders, not the bucket truck. No plan finalized.

Flower orders to Seemar Gardens and Barlow’s need to have funds approved through council. Mary to get information to Kathy Beno .

Electrical pole at Sandy’s Point needs to be lowered. Andy to talk to Chris Reihl about getting borough to have it done.

Tree memorializing Marie Pfister has been purchased by Shade Tree along with other trees they will be planting in the next couple of weeks. Beautification will be responsible for watering

County has no compost for use by any towns.

Mary to get PO for Alberta Spruce trees from Gaskos (three for Gazebo, one for War memorial)

No members of the public present.
