  • Herbie and the Salem Oak saplings planted. Suggest one adopter to handle watering of each tree.

  • Discussion on Manasquan STC website and what we can use? Do we want to change Nominate to a individual rquest for a free street tree?
  • Evaluation of native and non-native trees planted in the past years for success. Kitty Stillufsen has volunteered

  • Borough Ordinance for Unkempt and Hazard conditions on private property years to include hazard street trees.
  • Trees for the JCP&L property on New Jersey Ave – MJ

 

Old/Unfinished Business – Status Reports

Upcoming Dates:

  • DOT has evaluated the traffic islands and is developing a plan for trees and pollinator gardens for fall planting of Route 35 north traffic islands Rickover Park and street trees on Route 35S from the bridge to Cedar. County has their own watering plans – Anne
  • Issue of borough tree removal permits for county roads still not resolved – waiting to hear from Chris Riehl – Anne
  • Seafood Festival September 16th – 10 am – 7 pm (9 hours!)- The Environmental Commission has a booth

 

2023 Goals – to be addressed

  • Ordinance for sidewalk construction that will minimize sidewalk lifting by tree roots and investigate costs and provide a demonstration of concrete grinding.
  • Provide on-site training session on hazard tree identification.
