ORDER PURSUANT TO THE DECLARATION OF DISASTER AND EMERGENCY TO ALL RESIDENTS AND PERSONS WITHIN THE BOROUGH OF POINT PLEASANT BEACH IN THE COUNTY OF OCEAN AND STATE OF NEW JERSEY

           WHEREAS, pursuant to the powers vested by Chapter 251 of the laws of 1942, as amended and supplemented, N.J.S.A. App. A: 9-30, et seq., N.J.S.A. 40:48-1, et seq., and all applicable statutory law and regulations, the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach (“Borough”) declared on March 16, 2020, that a local disaster/emergency exists within by and through the required authorization of the Emergency Management Coordinator; and
WHEREAS, under amendment 4 of the local State of Emergency, Certificates of Occupancy will begin to be issued for new home purchase and new year-round rentals looking to establish residency only.  Penalties have been put in place for violations of the State of Emergency.  No vacation rentals disguised as year-round will be tolerated.  Short term vacation rentals will be assessed separately later in the month of May; and 
WHEREAS, under amendment 3 of the local State of Emergency all CO’s permitting rentals, of any duration, are suspended until further notice. No CO’s will issue, and no rental shall commence until further notice; and
WHEREAS, the spread of COVID-19, hospitalization and the deaths have significantly decreased; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul M. Kanitra, Mayor, Borough of Point Pleasant Beach and I, Guy Dempsey, Emergency Management Coordinator, Borough of Point Pleasant Beach here-by DECLARE the following will go into effect immediately:

  1. The town is now accepting applications for Rental Certificates of Occupancy to be issued. Upon receiving a valid Certificate of Occupancy rentals may proceed as normal.
  2. Hotels, motels and guest houses may only be occupied up to 50% of capacity.
  3. Starting June 12, 2020, all hotels, motels and guest houses may resume to 100% occupancy or normal operating status.

We will continue to work together with understanding and patience realizing that this event is continuously evolving and know that we the Mayor, Police Chief, OEM Coordinator and other Borough Officials are looking out for the overall health, safety, and welfare of all the residents and visitors of the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach.
This order shall take effect immediately June 5, 2020, and shall remain in effect, unless specifically stated, until such time it is determined by me an emergency no longer exists.
