Amendment to Original State of Emergency dated 3-16-20
WHEREAS, on March 20th and 21st, the public did not practice social distancing as referenced by New Jersey Governor’s Executive Order 104 that large groups not gather together; and
WHEREAS, as groups gathered in the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach Inlet Parking Lot on March 20th, 21st, and 22nd, and did not observe or practice social distancing and grossly disregarded the state wide restriction of group gathering and;
WHEREAS, the public from multi-states are leaving metropolitan areas and renting living space in the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach in order to “ride out the pandemic” which places a stress on the emergency services, medical urgent cares and the hospital in the area that are not equipped to handle the influx overload. The Governor has asked people and our state citizens, not to do this, however many have not listened to the Governor and continue to move into the area; and
WHEREAS, on March 16, 2020 the Office of Emergency Management in the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach declared a local state of emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak nationwide; and
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Paul L Kanitra, Mayor of Point Pleasant Beach and I, Guy Dempsey, Emergency Management Coordinator for the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach here-by DECLARE in order to continue to protect the residents of Point Pleasant Beach the following restrictions will go into effect immediately:
All rentals in the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach including AirBNB, VRBO, Home Way, and other vacation rentals whether on-line, in-person, by Realtor or Owner transaction will be suspended until May 1, 2020.
The Point Pleasant Beach Boardwalk and Inlet Parking Lot will be closed to the public in order to maintain the health, safety and welfare of the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach residents and visitors.
We will continue to work together with understanding and patience realizing that this event is continuously evolving and know that we the Mayor, Police Chief, OEM Coordinator and other Borough Officials are looking out for the overall health, safety, and welfare of all the residents and visitors of the Borough of Point Pleasant Beach.
This order shall take effect immediately, March 23, 2020, and shall remain in effect, unless specifically stated, until such time it is determined by me an emergency no longer exists.
