Dear Resident:
We have been informed today, that the demolition of the Maryland Avenue Bulkhead has been scheduled for Monday, June 11th, 2018, by the Department of Environmental Protection, in conjunction with the Army Corps beach fill project. This is in preparation for the reconstruction of the outfall structure.
The purpose of the demolition at Maryland Avenue is to provide access to the work area for various trucks. The bulkhead will be removed and a 10′ wide path of I-5 material will be installed. The trucks will use the stabilized access road. There will be a pedestrian access crossing maintained just to the south of this. The storage area will be located inside the work area. The trucks will be able to turn around and pull forward down the access road to leave. When access to the site is not required, they will rope off the entrance of the access road from the street end to prevent vehicular access.
The construction plan
Installation of the Cofferdam: The piles will be installed with a vibratory hammer, working 7AM to 9PM, Monday through Friday, for approximately 3 weeks. This may be loud and disruptive. Thereafter, the demolition and reconstruction of the outfall structure will follow.
If you have any questions or comments, please contact the project Manager, Kelley Staffieri, Bureau of Coastal Engineering directly at 732-255-0767.
