Attention Residents and Visitors:
Forman Avenue will be closed with a detour at the Railroad Crossing on Friday March 30, 2018 at 9:00 AM until Monday April 9, 2018 at 7:00 AM.
New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) will begin a railroad crossing rehabilitation project that will require a week long closure and detour of Forman Avenue. The existing railroad crossing will be removed and replaced with a new concrete crossing and asphalt approach.
The following detours will be in place:
Traffic going South on Richmond Avenue (Route 35 SB) will be directed to cross the tracks on Atlantic Avenue and go north on St. Louis Avenue. Traffic Going North on Cincinnati Avenue (Route 35 NB) will be directed to make a right on Arnold Avenue and go south on St. Louis Avenue. Traffic on Forman Avenue Eastbound is directed south on St. Louis Avenue and West on Atlantic Avenue to Cincinnati Avenue.
When the roadwork is completed, Forman Avenue, between Route 35 NB and St. Louis Avenue will become one way, allowing for only east bound traffic.
If work is completed earlier, the roadway will be reopened accordingly. This federally-funded project is included within NJDOT’s railroad grade-crossing safety program which repairs, upgrades, or removes approximately 30 crossings each year, statewide. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
