The Neighborhood Preservation Project (NPP) is on going. The NPP Planning Committee has begun meeting. The committee members are Brad Sine, Chairperson, Terri Hrapsky, vice-chairperson, Michael Corbally, Borough Council, Doug Bollinger, Bill Egeter III, Anthony Favato, Marilou Halverson, and John Hurler, Sr.
The areas of improvement the Committee have been discussing are enhancing the “entrance corridor” into Point Pleasant Beach, welcome signage, trash management, curb & sidewalk repair, easement uniformity and maintenance, neighborhood block committees, coordination with other borough resources such as Beautification, Code Enforcement and Recycling. The committee will also be working with the Borough Planners to insure that the improvements we are implementing are consistent with the master plan and borough plans.
We would like to encourage renters, property owners and visitors alike to be good neighbors. A good neighbor will discard trash and recycling in appropriate containers, rather than in the street. A good neighbor will obey local ordinances by not leaving receptacles (empty or full) at the curb for days on end. The Borough has an ordinance, which indicates trash should not be placed out on the curb line any earlier than 5 PM on the day preceding collection and the trash receptacles must be put away no later than 6 PM on the day it was emptied. Should you not be here on any trash pick up day, perhaps you can ask a neighbor to put out your trash receptacle for you. The same timeline applies for recycling. Should you not be here on your recycling day, you can take your recycling to the recycling center adjacent to the train station from 7:15-3:45 PM Monday to Saturday.
Broadway & Ocean Avenues have trash pick up on daily. Recycling is on Wednesday. Beachfront/Ocean Ave bungalows have front door pick up on Monday, Thursday & Saturday between Broadway & Water Streets & on Tuesday, Friday & Sunday between Water Street & Vetrini Lane. Recycling for the bungalows is on Wednesday.
Remember, trash left in bags rather than cans with lids is subject to games playing seagulls!
Our streets are crowded, please be more aware of bicyclists and pedestrians enjoying our corridor.
